It takes years of public meetings and debate for citizens to get a sparse few concrete barriers to protect cyclists, but it can be done on a whim to protect state sponsored torturers.
More concrete barriers are being added on Beach Street outside the ICE processing center in suburban Broadview after a clash between protesters and agents led to at least 21 arrests and four law enforcement officers injured.

Miller: I think it was through all of the times that Trump has fallen asleep in public and talked about magnets getting wet.

Dems Could have and Should have held out until SNAP ran dry in December. Republicans would have to maneuver a Thanksgiving and Christmas shutdown with horrendous travel, or moved to remove the filibuster, allowing Democrats to avoid the landmine next they’re in power.
I'm going to say this just once and then step away:

Any federal government shutdown falls on the backs of federal employees. We are the ones without paychecks going on a month.

I want every person who calls this a "cave" to ask themselves if they'd be willing to skip a month's pay for this.

A continual bloodbath for anti-LGBTQ+ Republicans tonight.

Broke: America hates transit
Woke: Pennsylvanians have steam running through their veins
Bespoke: In NYC, They’re putting subways under pre-schools to turn the children into Foamers
In NYC, recess sometimes looks like preschoolers excitedly waiting for the Franklin Avenue Shuttle to pass underneath them.

I appreciate Curtis Sliwa is a potentially endangered type of New Yorker: the weird tristate dork. Of course he has twenty cats and used to manage a McDonald's in the Bronx. I bet he also used to watch Mets games from that one train platform with a view of Shea Stadium, in a big raincoat.

It’s hard to explain this but Sliwa is a bad leader and a terrible individual—in many ways a harbinger of the violent indecency that plagues America—and yet great at being a New Yorker.
How much do you all spend on groceries? Cuomo freezes a bit. Sliwa goes off on prices. Mamdani agrees things are too expensive.

Q: Do you pay off your credit cards every month or carry debt?

Mamdani: I pay it off

Cuomo: I pay it off

Sliwa, grinning like a goon: I don’t have a credit card. Debit

And it tells all those who don't know that this isn't just a policy debate, the Admin is breaking the law.
I know it's frustrating when lawyers point out when something the administration is doing is not legal. But responding with "the law doesn't matter anymore" is really unhelpful and defeatist. Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action
