The lack of shielding for mainline TIEs was also only partly about saving money and maintaining performance specs. Similar to how normal police cars aren’t particularly armored up, the escalatory implications were obvious and sufficiently feared by the populations TIEs typically patrolled.
No, the TIE is no match for Rebel fighters. So what? The Empire's military is a thousand times bigger, or more. It's not that the Imperials don't care about their pilots, or have so many that casualties are irrelevant. It is that dogfighting X-Wings never occurred to anyone as a requirement.

Casey, this had been hidden in some deep, dark crevice of my mind that hadn't been accessed in like 20 years. Thank you for shining light on it again.

This looks amazing and is a technical feat, but even with the likes of Spielberg and a best-selling novel “writing the prompts” Ready Player One was pretty tepidly received. This stuff feels dead without an artist at the wheel. It pales in comparison to the original: m.youtube.com/watch?v=HDXY...

The interesting question is what comes next? My suspicion is that physical, face-to-face presence is going to skyrocket in value, while anything based on digital-only presence will collapse. Probably going to be a good run for elite social institutions.

The Mayonnaise Avengers, many are calling them.
The Titans are expected to hire Dave Borgonzi as linebackers coach, per source.

The brother of Tennessee GM Mike Borgonzi, Dave has been a highly respected assistant for years. Now he teams up with Robert Saleh, Gus Bradley and company in Tennessee.

This does nothing to dissuade me of my long-held notion that an Action RPG F-Zero would rule.
Lots of good stuff in PlayStation's State of Play today, but I gotta say I'm more excited than I expected for the new Star Wars racer. Podracing!

Markets are starting to figure out that either the tech giants are gonna incinerate all their FCF for nothing or they’re gonna hit paydirt and eviscerate large swaths of other sectors without necessarily absorbing similar gains. We either get the AI Correction or the AI-fueled Correction or both.
AI guys going on and on about The Future Of The Free World has the market starting to worry about The Future Of Free Cashflow.

CNBC: What about the horrific conditions in DHS detention centers? Do they need to be looked at?

REP. JASON SMITH: I'm sure those conditions never existed under Biden or Obama

CNBC: I'm sorry, sir. I'm not asking about Biden. I'm asking about conditions right now. I think it's a natl embarrassment

U.S. FAA : THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF AIRSPACE OVER EL PASO HAS BEEN LIFTED

The El Paso TFR issued by the FAA even grounds medivac flights. NO EXCEPTIONS. Any flight operating in the area may be deemed hostile and “the United States government may use deadly force against the airborne aircraft.”

Anyone needing a lifeline flight to a hospital or outside El Paso will die.

A sudden 10 day closure of airspace in a major US city like El Paso should be THE STORY, with nothing else getting any air time until at minimum someone within the US government says what’s happening and why.

It barely even registers on CNN’s site. It’s literally the last item before the page ends.
The FAA is closing the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days, grounding all flights to and from the airport, for “special security reasons."

The FAA's notice did not provide additional details.
