Here’s what I don’t like: the use of “here’s what to know” and its ilk. @nytimes.com uses it constantly instead of a real headline. @spectrumnewsny1.bsky.social uses it, too. It’s just as useful and just as unnecessary as “click here.” Why has it become so prevalent?

Remember that 80% of the ACA subsidies about to expire go to people in states that Trump won in 2024.

Time and time again, Trump and MAGA Republicans will sell out their own voters — all to fund massive tax cuts for the super rich. www.kff.org/quick-take/m...

Every senseless death is a tragedy but Rob Reiner was a towering genius at making movies. Just an incalculable loss.

Rob Reiner was a good guy. He made a lot of movies about good guys, in worlds where not everyone was good and you didn’t have to be good. He made movies about people trying. He was angry, as many hopeful people are. He knew the world could be better and he wanted it to be. His death is devastating.

Rob Reiner directed some of the most beloved movies of all time, including Stand By Me, This is Spinal Tap, and The Princess Bride. His production company also made movies like The Shawshank Redemption, Before Sunrise and Michael Clayton. The film industry has lost one of its titans.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Hard agree, which is why @runforsomething.net is running a campaign to get renters to run for office.
Housing affordability is important, but the idea that renters have less of a stake in their community and the country’s future is absolutely insidious and offensive.
Flagging this from the Douthat interview with Charlie Kirk’s confidant/podcast replacement. The right sees this too! And he gets: It’s both financial and psychological.

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

What this illustrates to me more than anything is that he doesn't even have the slightest idea how to improve transportation. Just completely incapable of doing his one job.
