@michaelhobbes.bsky.social You've mentioned reading Shirer and other books on Nazi Germany. Wanted to recommend Ian Kershaw's Hitler bio and Richard J. Evans' Third Reich trilogy. Both are well-regarded by historians and are great improvements over Shirer. Hope they're useful to you.
