Organisations used to be taxed 90% on profit so they pumped millions into the R&D or staff dev., or offering better bonuses.

I 100% agree but I cannot tell you how bad it looks that this has become an urgent issue now, when they’re leading the polls, and it was a secondary issue at best for the last two decades when the lads had more important shit they wanted to focus on.

When you've whittled pop cultural understanding of "proper" economics down to essentially Laffer Curve 3.0, you are going to be a bit huffy when someone goes "No, hang on, how are *you* understanding supply and demand economics?" instead of "Ah, you're right, I'll apologise to Reeves et al."
