This is really crucial in understanding today's right wing: it is an arena in which you can get attention, and become famous, without any skill or insight or knowledge. All you have to do is say outrageous shit.

So it's become a collection bin for all these failed, flailing narcissists.
Learned from the Posting Through It podcast just how many MAGA-era influencers turned to politics after failing at more glamorous pursuits — theater, comedy, fashion, TV, movies, music. Knowles, if I’m not mistaken, had dreams of Broadway.

Watching Dr. Strangelove (1964) and as always I find Group Captain Mandrake by far the most interesting character because he lives up to and subverts national/class stereotypes.

The USA, where the summary execution of an unarmed man can now be justified by the actual president, because on a separate occasion he kicked the tail light of a "very expensive government vehicle."

This is how states fall apart, particularly federations. It's been a risk ever since a large % of the American population defected to its own communities, news shows, social media, histories: insulated themselves inside a completely false reality. But the risk is definitely rising.
Walz: "It's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of our state, and today that campaigned claimed another life. I've seen the video from several angles and it's sickening. But I have a strong statement here for our federal govt: Minnesota's justice system will have the last word."

This is who ICE murdered. A VA nurse who dedicated his life to helping critically ill veterans.
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

This is (1) disgraceful at a moment of national danger, (2) laughably unserious and (3) deeply unwise when the President is obviously becoming incapacitated and the most unpopular person in the whole UK. Utterly disqualifying.

Looks like ICE is now cracking down on … Native Americans.

This letter was just posted by the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North/South Dakota:

“Our Nation is a sovereign government and our members are not immigrants. We are not subject to immigration enforcement on our own lands.”

Renee Good had just dropped off her 6 year old child at school.

She would never be there to pick him up again because this unarmed woman, with stuffed toys in her glove compartment, was shot dead by ICE agents while trying to drive away.

This is an excellent, depressing, analysis. Trump accuses Democrats of treason, yet he is the one colluding with Russia, selling out allies, betraying NATO, and surrendering US interests to the diktats of a foreign nation. Trump is a deeply corrupt, compromised, craven Quisling.

I see from a recent answer to a PQ that the UK has supplied 85,000 drones to Ukraine in the past six months. That is rather impressive - not least for it happening with little publicity. It's the right approach: do more, shout about it less.
