I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

To the extent I feel patriotic toward any particular place, it is toward the type of cosmopolitan city where a Muslim kid can eat bagels and lox.
Mamdani: Where else can you hear the sound of the steel pan, savor the smell of sancocho, and pay $9 for coffee on the same block? Where else could a Muslim kid like me grow up eating bagels and lox every Sunday?

Some good news: the number of pedestrians killed on NJ roads in 2025 dropped to 173, down from 230 the previous year. Still too many, but it's a big drop. The number of cyclists killed was 17, down from 18 the previous year.

I had a school classmate who once trolled me for an entire study hall period middle school by arguing that (even though by that time even at 13 I had been there) France was not real.

He was a good dude, I hope he has not gone right wing in the meantime.
First superb conspiracy theory of 2026 overheard in the street! I love this. I feel it sets the tone for a superb year:

That, and also I have to keep reminding myself that for however monumentally bleak it was/is, the year showed a ton of meaningful solidarity and support from ordinary, everyday, working people from all kinds of backgrounds, showing up and fighting for one another even in the face of actual violence…
2025 was a tough year for a variety of reasons, but I very much appreciate all of you, my pocket friends. Sending y’all my best wishes for 2026.

At one point, the two men in this video don’t identify themselves to daycare workers, demand to know where the children are, and then try to yank open the door as the female employees pull on it to keep them out.

I somehow find myself shocked by events, even though I would agree that "they're going to run back Comet Ping Pong but with more racism" would have been an admittedly plausible prediction.

The Separatists actually being the good guys is a compelling take ruined by the fact that every notable one is either a caricature of a capitalist or an avid war crimes enjoyer.
From the perspective of the average person in universe, Star Wars is the story of Count Dooku warning everyone Palpatine was a tyrant and being tragically ignored the misguided old Jedi companions he was forced to take up arms against, only to be vindicated upon death.

it's going to be amazing when republicans in 2028 run on banning daycare
Trump guys are about to Comet Pizza every third daycare center because they think they are all fronts for Somali money laundering. They're only doing this near cities with progressive mayors. This is straight up Government by LibsOfTikTok.

And it’s (as I learned myself way too recently) “for all intents and purposes”, not “for all intensive purposes”
We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps:

- It’s ‘voilà,’ not ‘wallah!’
- It’s ‘a lot,’ not ‘alot.’
- It’s ‘further ado,’ not ‘farther adieu.’
- It’s ‘flesh out,’ not ‘flush out.’
- It’s ‘sneak peek,’ not ‘sneak peak.’

No worries if not!!!

He didn’t just blurt it out; he said it while clearly thinking it was already in the media zeteo.com/p/did-trump-...
To be sure, Joe Biden had some embarrassing gaffes, and his Atlanta debate performance made clear he wasn't up for a second term

But never once did Biden blurt out the details of a CIA covert op by going on a B-list radio show

Can you imagine the uproar if he had?

I regret to inform you there’s a new post telling us we’re rubes who’ve missed the obvious & clear meaning of the Const’n for a century.

This is the type of post you make when your goal is to juice engagement from those who want nothing more than to be told their policy goals are const’l commands.

either Trump is breaking the law ordering illegal strikes or Trump has reached an undeniable level of cognitive decline

both stories would be headline news above the fold, and yet
Since I first posted on Sunday about Trump's radio spot alleging a land strike on Venezuela, I've gotten a surprising amount of hand waving in response. No matter what the explanation is here, it's important to understand what actually did (or didn't) happen.
