I believe that forgiveness is a gift, not an obligation, and I am incredibly grateful to all the people who gave me the grace I needed this year. May we all receive as much kindness and compassion as we need.

Every trans person--including every trans child--deserves the chance to be fully themselves. I'm so sick of seeing trans folks harmed repeatedly and unrelentingly, against all reason and scientific precedent. To my trans friends--I'm so sorry the world keeps trying to dim your light.

hey, I am not gonna doompost about it necessarily but, a glance around will tell you it's a hard & stressful time for artists, and especially so this year

consider dropping a kofi donation, or reposting a shop link, or even just, leave a comment so someone knows you like their work

it does matter

As more and more creators are expected to be on camera to promote their comics, can we talk for a second about how this opens up female creators to intense harassment about their looks?

Not to mention a lot of "You only have a career in comics because you're good looking" comments?

I wrote about the new Epstein pictures and the conspiracy of silence around him. Powerful men who say they didn’t know….they knew enough not to ask. www.ms.now/opinion/jeff...

Also, congratulations everyone who made something this year. A comic, a song, a film, a novel, a painting, a poem, a short story, a sculpture, crochet, embroidery, whatever it is. In this era of slop and theft, if you *make* something you are a shining jewel and I am so grateful for you.

I had the good fortune of being in the room for this conversation between the brilliant Hanif Abdurraqib and my equally brilliant colleague Prof Matthew D. Morrison.

Could not recommend it more highly. Just a stunning conversation. Watch it.

Embracing a label of "disabled" made me more confident in asking for accommodations. I can't get through a full work day in person without suffering in pain.

If you're a chronically ill person, I welcome you to join this identity.

Disabled isn't a dirty word, and it's fine to work through internalized ableism if you were raised thinking so. We live in an ableist world.

No one's pretending to be disabled in higher ed. For what, so they can get discriminated against & always have their competence called into question? Being mad in higher ed got me brutalized by the academy, that was what they called accommodations.

I tire of the culture that asks us to classify and pathologize every personality quirk or idiosyncrasy. At the same time, I recognize how we live in systems that require us to identify our “deficiencies” in order to get support. Exhausting, all of it, really.

The piece also oozes with the implication that "real" disabilities--the kind the ADA is "supposed to be for"--are physical, visible ones, and everyone else is probably faking. It's just gross.
Even by the standards of The Atlantic, this is an extraordinarily weak evidence base for an article.

Data from a tiny handful of schools that isn't measuring the variable at issue and a few thin, secondhand anecdotes.
