An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

My cousin—a 15-year-old towhead girl from Idaho—insisted we watch 2 Fast 2 Furious for family movie night and since nobody could agree on anything else she won and then immediately fell asleep after we started it, leaving the rest of us to watch 2 Fast 2 Furious by ourselves. 11/10 power move.

The first thing ICE did when it was created was raiding meat processing plants in the Midwest and south to help quell labor disputes over safety violations and keep those who weren't detained from getting legal protections as many had kids who grew up locally and were citizens with political power.
