I say this as someone whose entire job is finding the narrow use cases in which AI is actually useful:

All the fear about AI, all the reluctance to adopt it, is entirely legitimate, and a product of the fact that it's been foisted on the public with no consideration of its negative externalities.
I continue to have no sympathy left for whinging about how the public are rude about AI and feel threatened by it when the biggest players in the AI space have spent years very vocally and constantly *threatening the public*

People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

The police killing of Sonya Massey ignited protests throughout the country. In Illinois, a civilian commission met over the last year to debate changes—holding tense, difficult meetings.

This story follows the commission for months—and captures just how agonizing these processes can be.

folks we are into “breaking gerrymanders” territory here

we are going to win
This Georgia flip is in a district that the GOP drew to drown Democratic voters in Athens into a neighboring red county, Oconee.

But tonight, Dems in Athens were out in FULL FORCE to swamp that gerrymander.

OBVIOUSLY do not use AI, at all. AT ALL, for anything. I don’t wanna hear about the theoretical good version, it’s not what they’re pushing on us. The absolute worst people in the world have gone all in on this shit, and it needs to be starved out as much as possible. AI: not even once!
Sec. Hegseth rolled out the U.S. military’s new AI platform, GenAi.Mil, with a link to an empty website. trib.al/tbCJAkT

Predictably, the platform can’t actually be accessed from external networks, but the wonky rollout triggered eyerolls across the internet.

I got the shingles vax and it was fine.

I've never heard a person say "I had shingles and it was fine"
PSA: if anyone in your life is trying to dissuade you from getting the shingles shot, you should probably assume that person hates you, and wants you to suffer. There is literally no other explanation.

Shingles hurts worse than childbirth. Worse than knee surgery. Worst pain of my life.
I am baffled by this because I have had so many friends with shingles and NONE of them made it sound fun. Not one. A vaccine that made me absolutely miserable for 48 hours would still be a huge improvement over the mildest case of shingles I've heard of. (Also it made me tired for 1 day.)

Folks, this redistricting landscape is as confusing as it is outrageous. The VRA case. CA. TX. UT. FL. VA. IN. NC. MD... So, at Bolts we're doing a reader Q&A to answer some of your questions.

But to do that, we need to know what's perplexing you most, what you're left wondering.

Let me know! (↓)

Feeling alarmed isn’t hysteria, it’s civic literacy.

Every democracy that slid into authoritarianism reached this stage: when partisan leaders in SCOTUS, Congress, and the Cabinet stop acting as checks and start acting as shields for the regime.

We’re there.

the difference between the male loneliness epidemic and the female loneliness epidemic is that the women aren't taking it out on everyone. i'm not saying i want lonely women to shoot up a mall but there is a big squeaky wheel problem that people sometimes consider accomodating out of fear.
I think the "male loneliness epidemic" is really just the "loneliness epidemic," but societies don't care if women are lonely.

Some vile people have partners. Some amazing people remain in solitude forever. Life is so random. But some women will pick up on the fact that you hate them if you do.
holy shit man, that is *absolutely false*

Honestly, in a year or so, it's going to be so incredibly hard to tell what's real and what's not in videos of this sort that it's going to ruin and crater that entire experience, unless platforms put in robust checks and limits on posting stupid fake Gen-AI shit.

A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.
