in the song "I'm Giving Santa a Pikachu for Christmas" professor oak sings "he'll find it rather shocking" and then ash laughs. they're both used to being shocked by pikachu. but santa isn't from their world. he can't just tank a thunderbolt like it's nothing. he's gonna die.

they didn't need AI to make Silksong, it just needed some deeply insane guys to have a blank check for living expenses until their next thing was done, I think we should try doing more of that instead

Me waiting for the gen AI game asset debate fallout in 2-3 years when the big studios investing in it start getting mad at third-parties for “stealing” their gen AI assets but realize they have no way to stop them because they don’t own the full rights to them either according to the courts

I've seen some takes suggesting that this was all a marketing stunt and this would not have sold nearly this well if it was on Steam sans controversy. Look, discoverability is fucked, true, but the idea that a dev would forego Steam and Epic on a lark is a ridiculous take.
the good news is that the media attention and support from an audience has helped Horses do well enough that Santa Ragione has been able to pay all its owed royalties and loans. so it's not in debt.

the bad news is it's still not enough to keep the studio together.

Horses Sells Over 18k Copies, Pays Back Loans and Royalties Despite Removal From Steam and Epic - IGN
Horses, the indie horror game that was banned from both Steam and the Epic Games Store ahead of its launch two weeks ago, has nonetheless managed to sell over 18,000 copies, says publisher Santa Ragio...

OpenAI says they aren't liable for the suicide of a user their chat bot urged to kill himself because suicide is a violation of the TOS
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

the only good thing about genAI is that it got me to really love seeing bad art, because I know a person put in time and effort, made themselves vulnerable by showing it to others, and is trying to improve. I value that more than anything now

Cuomo's campaign was a cesspool of racism and bigotry. Never, ever, ever forget that. Never let anyone who worked for him on this campaign worm themselves back into any kind of respectability.
cuomo calls him "mandami", everyone boos, then he's like "no, that's not us" like he didn't post the most racist fucking ads imaginable THIS LAST WEEK

As someone who does not live in New York, my desire is simple and, perhaps, a little self-serving: I would like to never see Cuomo's stupid fuckin' face or hear his stupid fuckin' voice ever again. It'd be great if that creep just lost this election and went away forever.

Today in Portland, a fed shooting pepper balls from the roof of the ICE facility was so eager to aim for people’s heads, that after shooting one photographer in the head and another in the upper arm, they accidentally shot a DHS agent in the head. This photo shows the moment of impact;

Despite what some, including at DHS, are claiming, this video isn’t from a year ago in Chicago. It was Friday in Hoffman Estates, in my district, a street I’ve walked myself. It appears to show a child being violently detained by ICE. It’s real, and I’m demanding accountability.

Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.
