if anyone wants an anecdotal sense of how angry Georgians are about electricity rates, just visit /r/Georgia and search "Georgia Power"

i think Tim Echols and the Fitz guy are in real danger of losing their seats here.

the primary reason that LLMs aren't going to cause massive job losses is because LLMs are not (and never will be) capable of doing those jobs. human labor is more than input yields output yields profit
ANDREESSEN: "The employment shifts everybody’s worried about are .. not going to happen at anywhere near the velocity people think .. because a significant percentage of jobs in the U.S. are licensed or unionized .. in a way where they literally cannot be replaced.”

a political candidate running on a strong anti-scam, anti-corruption platform could probably win office! people hate scammers and the scam-based economy
There are only two types of products and services now: outright scam and pseudo scam (where you're like ehh technically I got something in exchange for my money but cmon)

Yuuuuup. Also, I don't give a shit if some of the worst people in the world think I am being performative or am virtue signaling. Fuck 'em. They don't get to tell me how to be.

Anyway, trans rights are human rights, y'all. It's not complicated.
To my fellow cishet dudes: when we are quiet about supporting the trans community, the only voices anyone hears are the Charlie Kirks of the world. Don't let accusations of being "performative" or "virtue signaling" shut you up - that's their whole point. Our voices are needed now more than ever.

This would be cool as hell in reverse too - I'd love to drive to the city from my home in the country to a train park. use the train and my feet to explore the city, then zoom back home from the train garage when i want to go home.
my position has always been that cars are bad in cities but that keeping a car in a garage at the end of a train line for going on country drives is cool and good. in college underclassmen weren't allowed to keep cars on campus, so I kept mine in a lot on a bus line. worked fine. should be like that

Wild to see non-college, men, and white approval this low just 8 months into this term. Approval should fall further as tariffs start impacting consumer prices. I think the approval floor for Trump 2.0 could be in the upper 20s by the end of his term.

The yeast that brewers use to make beer also makes all sorts of flavor compounds - isoamyl acetate (fake banana flavor), diacetyl (popcorn butter), ethyl acetate (green apple) are all natural byproducts of fermentation.
What’s your favorite food fact that is true but sounds totally made up?

I’ll start: about half of the mushrooms produced across the United States of America each year (more than 300 million pounds of mushrooms in recent years) are produced in *one county* in Pennsylvania.

Historic land deal halts mining project next to Okefenokee Swamp
The move puts an immediate halt to a project that scientists and environmentalists had feared could irreparably damage North America’s largest blackwater swamp.
