California, this November 4th, the whole country is counting on you.

Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, preserves independent redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide.

So return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.

"Mama, do you know how beautiful the lights at the movie theater are at night? And all the lights downtown - it's so cool!"

The kid now gets to stay out with his bike past sunset. Enjoying our little town in a very different way than people in cars ❤️

This is the age to get them hooked on bikes.

Kudos to the young teens in town leading the way!

"It had a bike sign (sharrow), so we're even allowed to be there! So we were petty and didn't move to the sidewalk. We were going 12mph b/c some had pedal bikes. She had to wait with her SUV, revving her engine."

Move over, the kids are coming :)

Want To Make Money? Build A Business On A Bike Lane
Research from New York City notes that newly installed protected bike lanes do more than keep bikers safe--they raise the income of the stores they are in front of.

We’ll nitpick the motor assist classification on a 35 kg e-bike like it’s a moral crisis, yet 4-ton trucks roam our cities without anyone batting an eye.

Yes! I no longer do school runs or drive to soccer practice - and the kids figured out to take their ebikes on the train to their favorite barber shop. They ride to all their friends houses by themselves, and best part - they run errands for me <3
They are 12 and 14 and it is awesome.
A parenting win.
July 4, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Exactly - I talk to so many people who want to „ban the kids on ebikes!!!“ and when you ask more questions, they all mean the motorcycles (which of course are already illegal for teens). And then they try to ban class 1 + 2 because they don’t know better. Legal ebikes (<20mph)are awesome for teens!
And one of the big issues is that these e-motorcycle companies advertise what they are selling *as* e-bikes.

The Trump administration is working with private companies like Palantir to create detailed reports on every American, which could help them weaponize our personal information in their quest to deport immigrants and punish critics.

This is a huge threat to our constitutional rights.

The teens couldn’t fix an ebike themselves and needed help from the shop. Transport in my Fiat 500 worked fine enough. Again, another day not needing a SUV (but wishing for a cargo bike trailer - or better yet, a friend close by with such a trailer)
Happy Friday!

Yes, please. I want this for California, too. Incredible that creating shared streets isn't "legal".
In Germany that is called "Spielstrasse" with a speed limit of 6mph, Dutch call it Woonerf. We should be able to have that here, too. Cars can be guests.
Now let’s pass this in California!

I would love to turn all the neighborhood streets in El Cerrito into shared streets where kids and people of all ages could play in the streets and walk and bike safely. ⚾️🚶🏾‍♀️🚲⚽️
Washington's first-in-the-nation shared streets bill, allowing local governments to lower speed limits to 10 mph on specific streets where vehicle traffic must yield to pedestrian, bike, and scooter traffic, is now law.

Bike to work day yesterday: a group of those „pesky teens on their mad (e)bikes“ absolutely saved my day when my chain popped and got stuck 20mi from home and with no tools on me.
They did not only have the tools, they also insisted on fixing it for me 💙
I love teens on all sorts of bikes!

Today I would like to propose that we immediately take the DL as well as the car(!) from people who endanger humans with their driving.
(If you can't tell, I'm just back from a bike to school train, and a mother of that school nearly killed me - at least not a kid. I am pissed.)

🚨NEW from me: As _all of this_ indicates, capitalism is now firmly out of its YOLO summer and limping piteously through its FAFO winter. The question is, what'll end it first?

Today I had to drive the car home from work instead of taking the train. I had forgotten how awful that is!
You get out of work, and you should get to relax and read. But no, you have to navigate people and pay attention to the world for another 45 min. Yuck.
Glad that was a one off.

Unique to America, our health care system is designed not to make people well, but to make CEOs & wealthy stockholders incredibly rich. The result: We have the highest infant mortality rate of any wealthy country on earth. How cruel, how immoral is that? We need Medicare for All.

Yes - doing what needs to be done!

I spent $142 to UPS overnight my vote as it took too long for the ballot to get here. Arrived at my house Thursday 3pm, was in the mail by 4pm, arrived in Germany Saturday, and my dad will drop it off.

Glad I'm not alone in taking this serious :)

Finally approaching Berlin…

10 hours 🚆 and €74 ticket 🎫 so I can vote in the Bundestagswahl tomorrow

Ought not be necessary, but I can’t let what happened at the EP election happen again, and my postal vote papers not get to me
