the thing about sandwich guy acquittal is that at least half those jurors refused to convict out of pure, unadulterated federally-occupied-washingtonian spite

I really wish people would stop qualifying these ICE raids as being done "without a warrant." I don't care if they DID have a warrant, you should not be dragging teachers out of schools in front of kids regardless!

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

This goes double for anything any milk brained pundits think of last night’s elections. Their takes will be bad! We know they will be! Who cares what they think, they have been loudly and enthusiastically proven wrong in races literally everywhere.
lets shake hands & agree to ignore every single garbage pundit & the terrible pieces they write for clicks. let them fade into obscurity so they're all sitting together at the bottom of a well yelling about the need for centrism so when it echoes back at them they think they still have an audience.

Just gonna put it out there before Chuck Schumer floats it: we do not under any circumstances need to use this bump in democrat power to reach across the aisle and meet republicans halfway. They're bleeding; it's time to go for the jugular.

Two years ago I interviewed a 31-year-old NY state assemblymember about a 7-year-old girl killed by an SUV driver in his district. I hung up the phone, astonished that I'd talked to a legislator who so thoughtfully articulated what actually needs to change on our streets.

He'll make a great mayor

OpenAI pirated large numbers of books and used them to train models.

OpenAI then deleted the dataset with the pirated books, and employees sent each other messages about doing so.

A lawsuit could now force the company to pay $150,000 per book, adding up to billions in damages.

Mamdani is an excellent poster child for ranked choice voting in primaries, which I'm sure will make all sorts of people dig in even harder against it, but I believe we can get there. not by 2026, maybe not by 2028, but I think more and more cities and states will start adopting it after this
Okay, but let's go back to how NY managed to kick-start it to begin with: is there actually a way to make the dem presidential primaries be a ranked vote system?

Cause it would be a good reminder to point out that this is how Mamdani initially got his foot in the door frame.

Watching Mamdani's victory speech, I'm struck by his—and his campaign's—unabashed vision of the US as an immigrant society, a culture built from the ground up from diversity. It is a complete rejection and reversal of the search for a white-washed homogeneity that the political right projects.

You can’t layoff most of the state and think you weren’t gonna pay for it. That orange prick and his goons were delusional for that.
You know...everyone is celebrating Mamdani right now and that's cool and fantastic and wonderful...

and I'm struck by just how thoroughly they put belt to ass in Virginia.

like damn.

As the cold reality of Cuomo’s defeat sets in, this is a moment for centrists to ask themselves: Have we lost touch with the common voter? Get out and spend time in the tattoo parlors and dispensaries. The drag shows, community gardens and outsider art galleries where Real New Yorkers congregate
