I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

as the person whose job it is to do this locally for a big retail store, i'd say this is the right number even for us.

i haven't seen a "Bsky is cooked" thinkpiece lately and if I did I'd know its a lie because someone just found an orphaned shitpost I made fifteen months ago and boosted it to an audience I had no idea existed and that shit only happens on tumblr, a very much alive place.

very happy for my friend who always runs herself ragged every year to increasingly bleh responses from her in-laws for putting her foot down this year and not cooking anything for them.

since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.
