I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

ICE agents ate at El Tapatio in Willmar, MN, then came back hours later and detained the workers who served them. Turning a meal into surveillance isn’t public safety it’s intimidation. Remember private businesses can refuse service to ICE agents!
ICE agents eat at small-town Mexican restaurant — then detain workers
“Would your mama be proud of you right now?” a bystander said as agents returned at closing time to nab the workers.

It’s been one month since 100% of the Epstein files were due by Act of Congress. Thus far they’ve only released .6% of them and are using murder and war to distract you from this fact.

Westminster Labour promised that they would create 1.000s of GB Energy jobs in Aberdeen, so far only 13 people have been employed in our city.

Labour lied!

💪 Huge thanks to all our #ActiveSNP teams out campaigning across Scotland today, making the case for lower energy bills.

It’s Scotland’s energy - and it should work for the people of Scotland.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

Anas Sarwar asked questions on housing at FMQs today.

Never forget that in Labour’s last term in office in Scotland, they only managed to build a grand total of SIX council houses in four years.

Labour cannot be trusted to deliver on housing.

I think Brexit was garbage. But if in 2025 you're still pedalling "all we need to do is reverse Brexit!" you're ignorant. Everything before Brexit was fine, obviously. It was definitely ALL Brexit and not the six years of austerity before that and the 31 years of untempered Thatcherism before that.

Yesterday at a gig I sang I Will Always Love You and told the crowd about the time fifteen years ago I was asked to sing it as a first dance for a wedding. Baffling. Then afterwards a man who had worked as a funeral director told me it is a COMMON CHOICE FOR FUNERALS!!!! Wow, fuck you, the deceased.

It's like people using 'Every Breath You Take' as 'our song". Either they haven't really listened to it, or there's red flags sprouting everywhere.

People not listening to lyrics and doing bizarre things with songs based entirely on the chorus is one of my favourite things.
See also all the people treating Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah like its a Christmas Song.

At the height of lockdown, my doorbell rang - which was shocking enough. When I answered, it was my next door neighbour. She handed me a cake, said, “I’m watching too much Bake Off,” and headed home again. 😂
I have always wanted to see a side-series to the Great British Bake Off focusing on the friends and families of the bakers as they practice baking endless stuff at home.

You *know* each baker is dumping absolute tons of free baked goods on everyone they know. Total strangers getting handed cakes.

Chaminda's work on the disability cuts has been invaluable.

This shows that contrary to many media assumptions that PIP cuts are primarily around mental health - they would affect lots of people with cancer, heart disease, and numerous other physical illnesses and disabilities.
NEW: Labour's planned disability benefit cuts could affect the majority of current working-age claimants with ischaemic heart disease, inflammatory arthritis, hip and knee disorders and Crohn’s disease, according to analysis of new DWP data

By me, for the Big Issue:

Majority of PIP claimants with heart disease, arthritis and Crohn's at risk of cuts
DWP data obtained by Big Issue shows that the majority of people with heart failure, HIV and arthritis are at risk of losing their benefits.

Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied
The problem with this ‘let’s weaken our commitment to the ECHR so as to fend off Farage’ plan is that when it doesn’t work, we end up with Farage *and* a weakened commitment to the ECHR at exactly the moment we need the ECHR the most.

Because of [waves hands at the state of the world] there's been a bit of discussion about how difficult it is to sink oil tankers.

As this account firmly approves of the empirical method, ie the boffin lingo for fucking around and finding out, let's look at an example.
