Ten fantasy books that prove self-publishing has come a long way
Self-published authors often enjoy unprecedented fandom, with traditional publishers taking note of the growing industry

Some books have portions that are like walking through a dark room and stubbing your toe on every piece of furniture to get a map of where you need to be.

And the only thing worse than doing that is...not doing it.

Writing is hard. Not writing is harder.

Finishing, uh...anything really. 2025 was a frustrating, garbage year where I felt stymied by my flighty, exhausted brain at every turn. Here's hoping 2026 will be better. #writingcommunity
Hey, #writingcommunity...

What's one big writing goal you want to accomplish in 2026??

I'd like to start cheering you on immediately, please and thanks 💜

How are the Oreo-Reese's combo cookies both better Oreo cookies and worse Reese's filling than their originals? I can't decide which of the companies could have possibly created this.

I signed! And every Canadian who knows all Canadians deserve human rights should also sign.

No government, provincial or federal, should be allowed to limit human rights based on extremist religious or political ideas that most people don't even believe in. #CdnPoli #CanPoli #AbPoli
Canadians, sign this petition to stop the use of the Notwithstanding clause against trans Canadians.

This is about provinces denying human rights, because trans rights are human rights.

SIGN.

My books are not currently up for any awards but they are fun and you should check them out if you like urban fantasy, fast-paced action, unique fae lore or snarky, badass heroines.

I’m not very eloquent, so let me just say if anyone was wondering where I stood, I couldn’t say it better.
Trans folks. We see you. We love you. Wherever fascists try to make you disappear, we will push back. We will fight for you.

#WeeknightWriters A4: Nobody's helped by us all giving up. There's going to be an "after", and we're all in this together. Go to work, do your chores, uplift voices where you can. Try to eat well and get enough sleep. If you're hurting, reach out to others when you can. And stay hydrated, team.
Q4: What can we, the #WeeknightWriters community, do to help you get through this next week?

#latenightwrite woof, this year was pretty rough. I started solidly writer's blocked, finally dove into Book 4 in the spring and then got mired again on Book 5...with no finances to edit/cover/publish either one anyway, so ha - nbd. Marketing is exhausting and feels completely futile. BUT... 1/2
I wanted the last #LateNightWrite of the year to be a little more elaborate but I am once again not doing good this weekend. So we're gonna a do a "how was your writing year" free form prompt tonight and I'll be back with proper questions, at the right time, after the holidays!

One of my cool, independent (read: standoffish) cats wants to be cuddled and pet near-constantly the last few days (only while sitting on her fave rug--she's still a cat, after all) and I'm immediately assuming this is a symptom of some horrible illness that I'm yet unaware of.

Please, give the gift of reviews to your authors this holiday season. It really can make a difference!

So much this. Pop in a few words of review for my stories, wherever. Something as simple as "I liked this book" would keep me going for DAYS.
Reviews are the lifeblood of indie authors.

In the last few years, reviews have trickled to a near standstill, which creates a conundrum: need readers to get reviews, but need reviews to get readers.

If you take the time to write even a single sentence review, YOU ARE AMAZING THANK YOU I LOVE YOU

So many review sites are there, Bookbub, Goodreads, Storygraph... You can review literally anywhere except amazon without having to pay anything. Just one line would do if you loved the book. You don't know how much it means to authors to have that review.

could not be happier to have a story in this gorgeous anthology alongside some of my favorite authors. “The God of the Leftmost Door” is a queer love story—two love stories, actually—set at the coziest pub in purgatory. You can pick up a copy here: a.co/d/iv0g3P5 🚪
