This is important. Overwhelming you with the awfulness of it all is their goal. They want you scattered. They want you hopeless and passive to the atrocities they commit.

Focus. RESIST.
As a Sociologist, I need to tell you

the chaos cascade (200+ exec orders) isn't dysfunction — it's disaster capitalism's playbook. your confusion = their strategy.

I called @cantwell.senate.gov and @murray.senate.gov today to implore them to remove @schumer.senate.gov as Senate Minority Leader. It is easy to look up and call your congresspeople using 5calls.org. #SackSchumer

When Democrats offered a clean ONE-year extension of the tax credits—which is truly the most straightforward and common-sense thing we can do for people facing gigantic premium hikes this year—Republicans said “never, ever, ever, ever.” They called it “political terrorism.” Are you serious?

Resign right now, you useless, ineffective, Quisling little coward. Go count your money and get out of the way for someone who cares about saving America from this tyranny.

You did this, and we all know it.
I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

THIS. When you flinch, the bully just gets excited and hits you harder. Dems completely fumbled this, zero strategic acumen here
the thing that upsets me about this the most is that Dems had all the momentum, republicans were reeling, and we were getting intra-GOP fighting over the filibuster, all while voters were blaming republicans for their incompetence

this destroys all of this. just a total gut punch

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

These 8 Democrats are complicit in the suffering & deaths of Americans who won’t be able to afford healthcare due to the Trump budget. These cowards should be shamed every day for the rest of their miserable lives for selling out the principles of their party & the American people. #senatesellouts
If Chuck Schumer was a stronger leader, he would have been able to convince most of these senators to hold the line.

I’m terribly disappointed in him.

if you genuinely think Schumer and Democratic leadership opposed this & Republicans coincidentally got exactly the number of votes they needed to avoid a filibuster and none of those votes are from Democratic Senators who are up for reelection in the midterms next year, I have a bridge to sell you.

Hey @democrats.org It appears very much as if you held out for 40 days to get Republicans to agree to follow existing law and to hold a vote on a thing that will never pass. In the process, you demonstrated Charlie Brown-like gullibility and fell victim to the sunk cost fallacy. Just brilliant. 😒

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

@murray.senate.gov can you call for a new senate minority leader?

Coz we need one, the people have no faith in @schumer.senate.gov and we need real leadership to fight for us and not give up the ghost over pinky swears with pathological liars. That ACA won't get a vote in December and you know it.

Every single Democratic senator that votes to cave on this should be immediately ejected from the party, and the national party should immediately start running primary candidates in their districts.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

@repdelbene.bsky.social @cantwell.senate.gov @murray.senate.gov DO NOT BACK DOWN. Americans will die without healthcare just as they will die without food. Blood is on Republicans hands, you can not trust in a future agreement if you cave on your principles now.

HOLD THE LINE AGAINST FASCISM
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Okay, Ezra is confirming that he's hearing D senators are actually plotting to cave to Trump and end the shutdown WITHOUT any extension of the ACA, just a promise of a vote later down the line.

Call your senators, friends, NOW, and tell them NO DEAL without ACA funding!
