As many of us begin Christmas meal prep, allow me to share the advice that my ER nurse sister puts in the chat every year:

A dropped knife has no handle. Jump away. Let it fall. You can pick it up and wash it.

When I realized that my old new priorities weren't really working for me anymore, I set some new new priorities. One of them is taking better care of myself physically and I'm actually doing it and (you're never going to believe this) I feel better when I do!
At this time of “LOOK WHAT I DID LAST YEAR,” let’s do something different.

Not: I WROTE A BOOK; I BOUGHT A HOUSE; I WON AN AWARD

Rather: something small you’re proud of.

I’ll start
I’m better at having “no f*cks left to give”
I stopped owning other people’s judgements of me
Most of the time

You?

Keep being unapologetically myself because it feels great and the people around me seem to really enjoy it!
It’s almost New Years Resolution Time! Here’s mine:

1) Every month, I will purchase at least one piece of original artwork. If I don’t find anything I like/can afford, I’ll donate to an artist on Patreon.

What are yours?

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

I wrote about how the Trump administration won’t let Black people use MATH to prove racism exists.
Apparently, only white self-reporting their own racism now counts as evidence of racism.
The DOJ Just Made It Almost Impossible to Prove Racism Exists
By rolling back “disparate impact" claims, the Trump administration is reducing courts to mere rubber stamps for the white supremacy written into the laws.

A reminder from a high school history teacher that you do not ever, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to Hitler.
From a focus group of Gen Z Republicans. (www.city-journal.org/article/manh...)

Tell me again about how Zohran Mamdani is the big threat to Jewish thriving in the US today.

Let's! Call! Our! Senators! Regardless!
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

My friend’s production of Something Rotten. The first time I saw “A Musical,” joy filled my entire body.
2025 has been a rough year. What's one piece of art that's brought you absolute joy despite everything?

I went to two different Christmas shows at two different community theaters and had a marvelous time at both. I laughed, I gasped, I was in awe at the depth and breadth of creativity.
this was a weekend of unrelenting horrors, but if you had a small nice thing happen I would like to hear about it

maybe you read a great book or saw a cute dog walking down the street or your soup turned out really good? please share

We grieve the loss of life in Sydney, Australia, where gunmen attacked a celebration of the first night of Hanukkah, killing at least 11 people. This was a terrifying incident of hate-fueled violence that no community should face.
