I see it as part of the pathetic vision of "masculinity" these losers all have: a man is an entitled whiner who has no responsibilities or duties and who demonstrates his manliness by causing harm to others.

Accordingly, anything that might impair his manly wanton destruction is unjust and unfair.
We need to talk about the rise of "smol bean fascism" where you have all the guns and the immunity but the really scary people are the ones with whistles and phone cameras and they're giving you generational trauma and ptsd by filming you killing people for no reason

I'm calling bullshit on the media narrative that Trump is "pivoting" and "deescalating" on his ICE raids. The threshold is this: As long as the military occupations and the treatment of US cities as enemy territory continue, there's no pivot. ICE out. 1/

Donald Trump Is Frightened
Trump wants to appear eager to minimize out-of-control clashes between government militias and protesters. But he doesn’t want to stop the things causing those clashes in the first place.

The testing ground for Bovino’s Operation At Large was Los Angeles. A California judge initially prohibited ICE/CBP’s most flagrant constitutional violations. SCOTUS overruled her 6–3, handing Bovino a blank check to inflict unspeakable brutality on Chicago and Minneapolis. The 6 bear so much blame.
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Martinez took five bullets from a CBP agent, and DHS went into overdrive claiming she was an armed threat to the agents who were merely defending themselves. Sound familiar?

There's been a lot of discussion about the echoes of the civil rights movement in the protests today, with people obviously drawing comparisons between the strategies, tactics and coalitions that were vital then and are still vital now.

But this post has me thinking about a different echo ...
I suspect right now Stephen Miller and the other nazis are meeting to discuss how a place not as “nice" or "peaceful” as Minnesota will provide better oxygen for their lies and goals of martial law.

In the early 1930s the SA was roughing people up, creating chaos in neighborhoods, seeking to terrorize with the occasional killing. By the late 1930s it had been supplanted by the SS, which was much better trained.
Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

I said what I said about the silly people who say, "But there has to be a path back for MAGA folk!🤡" There has always been a path back. It's never been an issue at all. Many anti-MAGA folk spent some part of their life on the hateful side.

But the path back involves repair. Undoing harm. Like this.
He spent decades bringing the religious right to power. Now he's marching to undo it.

Rev. Rob Schenck spent decades helping build the Religious Right—commingling church and state to advance conservative causes. Now, he says he must confront the damage he helped cause.

Remember, per testimony before the J6 committee, Trump told officials to remove screening equipment at the Ellipse rally meant to prevent people from bringing in firearms.
In a new interview with WSJ, Trump is, again, blaming Pretti for carrying a gun, not federal agents for for firing theirs.

“I don’t like it when somebody goes into a protest and he’s got a very powerful, fully loaded gun…. That doesn’t play good.”

There isn’t a battle over truth.

We saw the horrific video. We know what happened. And the other side is simply lying about these murderous thugs, counting on media outlets’ destructive combination of willful naïveté and obeisance toward their authoritarianism in the interest of having “balance.”

👇🎯💯 This is the inescapable conclusion that <everyone> in 🇺🇸 politics & the entire national media cannot bring themselves to make. There is nothing Trump can do at this point to un-disqualify himself, & there are no laws Congress can pass to fix it.

The <only> mechanism is impeachment & removal.
The inescapable conclusion that neither the NYT nor WaPo editorial board can bring themselves to make is that this administration has to end. Its response to these killings—let alone the killings themselves—is obscene and totally disqualifying.
NYT EDITORIAL BOARD:

“.. When the government kills, it has an obligation to demonstrate that it has acted in the public interest. Instead, the Trump administration is once again engaged in a perversion of justice.”

Remember the Bundy insanity during the Obama years? Armed guys occupied a federal office and one of their buddies took position with a sniper rifle aimed at federal agents?

Exactly how many of those guys were shot and killed?

One of the reasons I am less pessimistic about the End Of All Things in 🇺🇸 foreign policy & world politics than many of my peers is that the there soon will be a generation of 🇺🇸 voters & leaders whose core foundational beliefs are that fascism, isolationism, & mercantilism are No Good & Very Bad.
The political socialization literature suggests that the present moment is likely to have enormous impact on the political views of young people for decades to come.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Literally every corner along Lake St. packed with people holding candles, many singing, honoring a person who by all accounts was an absolute gem of a human, whose life was tragically stolen by a fascist, paramilitary occupation force.
