The Express is furious about this because the moment you show those who repeat anti-immigration rhetoric the real human stories their narrative collapses.

The “immigrants” are people. Our friends, colleagues and family.

And it’s this nation of neighbours that is what makes Britain great.

I do think in the case of the WI this decision should have gone to their conference and members should have been offered a choice about whether to cave in to this demand, fight it (through the courts if necessary) or if that was considered impossible, whether to disband the organisation in protest.
So the WI will be asking for all their members birth certificates or just demanding trans women out themselves (or else?) or what?

This seems completely impractical. I mean and cowardly, obviously.
The first gender reassigned surgery in the UK was in 1951. She would be over 100 today and lived as a woman for 60+ years. Telling these women they are no longer welcome in the WI is brutal, as they themselves admit. These are our regressive times. #transrightsarehumanrights

Happy Gävlebocken season! Every year since 1966, Gävle, Sweden, has erected a massive version of Scandinavia's traditional straw Yule goat. It is so attractive to vandals—particularly arsonists—that in the previous 59 years, only 17 goats have survived fully intact. Good luck in 2025, Gävlebocken!

Just a jaw-dropping paragraph in Trevor Phillips's column for The Times.

This is a policy that, by his own account, has left parents of a particular race too frightened to walk their children to school.

And that's the example he chooses of the "vigour" we "need".

Quite why Maya Forstater thinks her views are more important than the sizeable majority who voted to keep the ponds trans inclusive, as they always have been. But she does. She and her gazillionaire backers have a hearing in the High Court next month - and we're fighting back. goodlaw.social/vs0d

It’s almost crunch time for a legal challenge from an anti-trans pressure group which could see trans people banned from Hampstead women’s pond. We’re not backing down.

What Ireland's uplands look like up close due to sheep: molinia deserts, with open wounds of erosion, as the vegetation that holds the soil together is stripped away.

This was once all rainforest, and with the sheep gone could be again.

In a time of ecological collapse, there is just *no* excuse.

Someone should ask Starmer and Mahmood whether they think the Kindertransport, for example, should have been a return ticket. Whether Alf Dubs, rather than becoming a Labour MP and now Lord, ought to have been sent back with his family to Czechoslovakia once it was liberated from German rule.
This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.
