Look, unless you can prove that you were a bigger Harry Potter fan than I was, you have no right to keep spending money on this shit. Did you drive 10 hours to go to a dilapidated mall in 2005 to be at the biggest Half Blood Prince release party in the world? No? Then sit the fuck down lol
we have got to start being meaner to people who are still fans of harry potter. i don't give a shit what you were going through when you read it. that is not your "comfort character" that is a wizard cop written by a mold-addled racist transphobe

Where I live, it was firefighters being the biggest bitches about getting mandatory covid vaccines for city workers. Collabing with ICE does not surprise me.
Texas fire department helps ICE detain roofers—using tower ladder truck that should be reserved for local emergency.

Agents grab at workers' legs to yank them off multi-story house—even using pepper spray atop roof.

Firefighters did equip ICE with safety harness for this risky series of maneuvers.

Lots of Minneapolis rent funds out there right now, but this one is getting cash to a few folks asap. A good place to throw a few bucks if you have them.
if you feel like passing around a link today and helping fundraise for rent that will actually get paid today (and in the next few days for families who have a grace period) you can send here.

we will be going hard all day. i won’t be posting about it because I don’t want to flood your feeds.

It feels so obvious to say, but man I feel really fucking sad. Minnesota was home to me, and seeing this horror unleashed on it is just gut wrenching. On this site, I normally focus on my anger and petty shit, it feels easier, simpler. I just don't really know what to do with the grief.

As someone who has a permanent chemical sensitivity from getting poisoned by an overabundance of household level toxins, I'm depressed thinking about how many people, including children, are going to have lifetime illnesses from all these poisons 😩
heads up — green gas is back in whittier today

all clear has been reported regarding ICE presence, but please still be careful around this shit

I think every time a European posts on bluesky to complain about what they think regular Americans should be doing to fight fascism, they should be legally required to send money to an American's GoFundMe.

I mean, I didn't spend the entire night after November 8th 2016 sobbing and dry heaving on my floor just to think we were getting out of this in four years
The moment it was crystal clear we were in the worse case scenario, was exactly a year ago when Trump pardoned every single Jan 6 perpetrator, including the ones that beat the crap out of cops and were convicted of seditious conspiracy.
January 21, 2026 at 2:10 AM
I can't even imagine how bad it now, even compared to Trump 1, which was a hot mess. This was small peanuts, but the DeVos DOE started telling all the credit bureaus I had defaulted on my student loans, despite having fully paid them off years before.

this is laughably infuriating, but also doubly so if you know anything about these places lmao.
NYTimes has truly outdone itself with this latest in its "ask white guys in diner" genre. Thank goodness we get a perspective on what's happening in Minneapolis from people in **Nisswa** who probably mean Brainerd when they say they "prefer not to go the city anymore" www.nytimes.com/2026/01/15/u...

oh wow, a story that was basically designed in a lab to make me absolutely furious. 😾 fuck prisons.
Here's an enraging story I wrote about today: A lady currently incarcerated in Texas has been taking care of a stray cat. It got sick. Her daughter started a fundraiser to pay for the vet. The prison now has put her in solitary confinement. thebarbedwire.com/2026/01/15/p...
After a Prison Cat Fundraiser Went Viral, Texas Officials Put His Caretaker in Solitary Confinement
“She was crying when she called me,” her daughter told The Barbed Wire. “This is not a place my medically challenged mother should be.”

The birthrate conversation is tiresome, but I also feel like there are just some parts of the conversation that always seem missing. Like, if the non-racist reasons people focus on birth rates is because our economies are a pyramid scheme that needs young workers so as not to collapse (1/?)

extra fun when the directions are nonsensical or contradictory. then they get to murder you either way 😡
losing my mind at the "she should have followed directions" people

really? really? you're cool with "if you don't follow directions, they get to kill you"? that seems like a good state of affairs to you? that seems like how law enforcement ought to work: instant obeisance or death?

This is deeply violent, misogynistic, imperialistic, racist garbage. It's also ironic because they're wanting a scenario that already exists in US, albeit on a small scale. People come from all over the world to the US for surrogacy because it's so deeply exploitative with almost no regulation.

I feel like the realization that the UK has been consistently low key lead poisoning their population honestly explains a lot 🙃
A very depressing thing I learned recently is that lead advocacy groups in the UK basically have to completely rely on CDC information concerning lead because UK health agencies ignore it completely. 🫠
Canadian officials are correct, and it’s truly a tragedy.

We do so much moral injury to children when they see suffering that our society ignores and does nothing about 😢
Two weeks ago I spent the whole day at the Museum of the Moving Image to listen to New Yorkers. This is what Liam shared with me.

Even if you do find yourself drawn to certain breeds or cats with certain characteristics, it's incredibly easy to find any of these types of cats ethically. I follow so many Mid East cat rescuers who are begging folks from other countries to adopt their cats, and they are drowning in these breeds.
People get so pissy when I speak out against breeding, as if I'm being pointlessly mean and grumpy about their favorite color or clothing brand. Cats are not colors. They are not clothing. They are sentient creatures who should not have to suffer for human convenience or aesthetic preferences.
🔍NEW STUDY highlights the welfare challenges facing purebred cats in the UK and presents a new framework that encourages an evidence-based perspective.
