Bad math. The costs far exceed the savings. Therefore there are no savings. Combine that with the disruption of vital services and DOGE has been an unmitigated disaster and complete failure.
President Trump and Elon Musk promised taxpayers big savings. Now, as he prepares to step back from his presidential assignment to cut bureaucratic fat, Musk has said without providing details that DOGE is likely to save taxpayers only about 15% of what he originally pledged to save.
What Elon Musk Didn’t Budget For: Firing Workers Costs Money, Too
An expert on the federal work force estimates that the speed and chaos of Mr. Musk’s cuts to the bureaucracy will cost taxpayers $135 billion this fiscal year.

Stop settling for less than the bare minimum, and start demanding what we deserve. People have internalized learned helplessness when engaging with politics, and it's long past time that everyone realizes that nobody is coming to save us. If voting could fix this, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Something the left is plagued with especially in America is an inability to escape the essentially Christian moralist position that the correct approach to social problems is not materialist or systemic but rather that there are good people and bad people and we just have to punish the bad ones

The cool thing about liberal “democracy” is people like Henry Kissinger can be a state department fixture for years, never having been elected by the people, killing people and toppling governments all over the globe, and some don’t think that’s “authoritarian”

We have permanently lost the post-WW II economic & cultural position we have occupied since 1946. Historians will say the era of American dominance ended in 2025 but they'll have a "when did Rome fall" debate about it for a couple hundred years.
Opinion: The US does not have the aid, the technology or the market access to exert control over global trade the way it once did, and Trump’s erratic behaviour is rapidly increasing the probability that it never will www.ft.com/content/c2eb...

The purchases were funded by a Binance account, suggesting the wallet owner is not based in the US.
