I won't defend assholes that behave poorly on any mobility device, but bikes on sidewalks are a symptom of hostile infrastructure design.
No one willingly chooses the friction of sidewalk riding when proper, protected, efficient bike lanes exist. Ebikes aren't the problem, it's the infrastructure.

We shouldn’t have to live like this. I’m not THAT old, and I remember we *didn’t* live like this. Powerful segments of society have made a choice that the regular scene of dead bodies in classrooms is an acceptable cost of doing business, and we shouldn’t have to accept that. I’m sad and I’m angry.

DDOT continues to publish before/after analyses of safety projects. The numbers for the 9th street NW bike lanes suggest that we should be doing these projects everywhere we can. Crashes plummeted, pedestrian and bike traffic skyrocketed, and vehicle travel times dropped.

A little tidbit: @janeese4dc.bsky.social just told me that her campaign qualified for public financing in just four hours since launching. That required getting $40,000 in small donations from at least 1,000 D.C. residents. That's pretty fast.
