Crow: I’m concerned about the president destroying our alliances, destroying our economy, destroying working class Americans' livelihoods… this president is destroying everything that he touches

something we’ve learned from Trump is that there are no cigar-smoking string-pulling masters of the universe directing things from backrooms somewhere

and if a serious administration wanted to go after their wealth they would fold exactly the same way
Wall Street executives always portray themselves as masters of the universe, great forward-thinking stewards of the economy, but they are all rudderless chumps with a fraction of the principles or courage of everyday people protesting ICE.

I’ve never understood why this isn’t a thing. A financial and ethical audit at the end of the term, with penalties enforced right away—something like clearing in high school—makes far more sense than the present combination of scrutiny before office, immunity while in it, and impunity after.
Politicians having to undergo a thorough audit every few years is also an appealing idea if we’re thinking in Athenian terms.

half of americans don't have a passport, and 1/3 of us don't have $500 in savings, so europeans lecturing us about how we're not going to be received well when traveling abroad doesn't land in the way they might hope

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

America’s spoiled and decadent elites behave like children because they do not understand the basis of our wealth and power. They reject their responsibility to maintain stability in favor of pursuing their short term desires because they do not understand that bad things actually can happen to us.
Trump, an insane man, voluntarily destroying American global economic supremacy while the greatest beneficiaries of that supremacy stand by doing nothing sure is something to see. What can you say really.

Breaking away from the dollar, as in a massive de-investment from dollar-denominated assets like selling much of your Treasuries, would take a long time & someone would have to step up to develop an alternative to it—meaning running big deficits that other parts of the world are eager to fund.

You can think of the sheer volume of dollars that exist—often discussed metaphorically as the "depth" of US credit markets, if I understand it correctly—as a kind of basic physical law of the world economy. Even if people want to stop using it, it's like wanting to stop breathing air, can't do it

For some reason, very few people these days will stand up and say it, but: the US federal bureaucracy is one of the great wonders of the world, staffed with incredibly diligent people who do their jobs well and care deeply.

Trump's destruction of the federal apparaus was a historic crime.
The Purged
Donald Trump’s destruction of the civil service is a tragedy not just for the roughly 300,000 workers who have been discarded, but for an entire nation.

Absolutely KILLER year for indie 3D Platformers! 😎
I fortunately haven't seen any "3D platformers are dying / dead" claims lately, but just in case that claim's still lingering, here's a list of *some* of the 3D platformers that are (as far as I'm aware) currently slated to release in 2026.

Or already have, in the case of Big Hops.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

Most of the organizations he rail against exist at the behest of, or for the best interest of, the US
- NATO
- USAID
- Our healthcare infrastructure
- Alternative energy initiatives

He's literally giving away the power and leadership to the rest of the world
