"The issues" are not immutable. Americans do not come out of the womb arguing about trans girls in Division III volleyball.

The issues are what you make them. The issues are what you're loudest about.

Create the conversation around these murderers' war crimes, don't equivocate, and don't let up.
And, you can also change the narrative yourself, by leading the public. Public pressure absolutely moves politicians. Sitting around waiting for others to take this seriously is failing. Making something the story and making the public care about it is the job of a politician.
IMO the argument is that you can make things into big enough deals that it matters. Khanna found Massey and found survivors and made the Epstein Files the gigantic story it should be. Only then did establishment Dems come along. You can, in fact, make things into big hairy deals if you do it right.

If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

People being like, "But Venezuelans are happy about Maduro being gone!" have the memories of goldfish. IN 2003, the narrative was that Iraqis celebrated the U.S. invasion and capture of Saddam.

Whether they were happy or not, invading Iraq was still the wrong thing to do.

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

The nobel peace prize committee has to wear this
At 7:10 or so the winner of the 2025 Nobel peace prize praises Tr*mp & condones extralegal killings in service of regime change. At 14:15 she tells Biz Forum that Venezuela will be the “energy hub of the Americas,” & the “new global frontier of innovation and wealth creation.”
If you want to know what the plan is, traitorous stooge Machado told the America Business Forum back in November: privatizing oil to the tune of $1.7 trillion. She said the same thing at a Saudi forum. It’s remarkable how little pretense there is. youtu.be/l2J2JtO8R9Q?...

"Maduro is a brutal authoritarian dictator," I wisely intone, as the corrupt demented paedophile US President violating Constitutional Law while operating a gestapo and concentration camps illegally arrests a foreign leader on charges which read like they were written on a paper placemat in crayon.

He legit just pardoned the president of Honduras for drug trafficking but now Maduro is going to stand trial for “narco terrorism.” This all makes a lot of sense and definitely isn’t about oil.
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

The US has been sanctioning and starving Venezuela for a decade, more recently committing wanton murder in the Caribbean. Trump has been open about wanting Venezuela's oil. The US does not care about the people of Venezuela. This is about domination and dispossession and oil.

i was just thinking about this. when a fascist squeaks by, it’s a mandate. when a progressive wins by a landslide, he needs to be deferential. it’s such bullshit.
as a texan i'll spare people zohran takes but one thing i think we're going to see even more of now that he's mayor is mainstream media shift the goal posts of what having a mandate is. trump had a mandate when he narrowly won but zohran has to reach out to all these factions no matter what

The winning argument for Dem leaders could be "they want to fear monger about trans people and trans healthcare because they don't want to talk about why your life isn't as good as it could be and have no plan to make it better" — except that most Dem politicians also have no plan to make it better.

This article is 1000% correct. We can’t actually achieve any of these goals without more staff. Friendly reminder that the last time we had this few staff it was 1967. We served 480 claimants per staff then. Now we have to serve 1800 per staff. This is not sustainable or even achievable. Period.

agreed. it's "the guy who makes you uncomfortable for reasons you won't articulate isn't the future. this guy who looks and talks like you is."
You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.
