Whether it’s Democrats saying Latinx or Republicans fantasizing about having alligators eat all 65 million Latino Americans, both sides are struggling to connect with America’s fastest growing group of voters.

I hope everyone working on LLMs has reckoned with their role in building a technology that, so far, has offered little to no benefit to humanity — while causing real harm by degrading art, undermining labor in creative industries, and straight up automating political propaganda

The median American will never be illegally deported by ICE and left to die in a torture prison in defiance of a Supreme Court order, so it’s hard to see how any of this is a winning issue for Democrats.

This is a US court of law, refusing to bar illegal actions of the Executive branch out of an explicit concern that its agents will react with deadly force.
Wow. Judge Howell is worried that if she orders DOGE to leave the USIP building it could turn into an “armed standoff” over unwillingness to vacate, and points out law enforcement has shown willingness to help DOGE. Asks if we’ll need foreign mediators to come in.

Increasingly, it is a mistake to think that the economy is about humans. We are becoming speed bumps in the true economy of extractive computation (the fracking-to-AI pipeline of universal paperclips).

i’m sorry, i’m tired of this shit. there was no pronoun policing. i have encountered exactly three or four land acknowledgments in like ten years, and the most you’ll hear about “intersectionality” is in liberal nonprofits. this is just freefloating resentment masquerading as analysis.
Elissa Slotkin told Tim Alberta why her response to Trump's joint address did not touch on a laundry list of priorities from various advocacy groups.

Yo just a reminder that Tesla is publicly traded and Elon owns only 13%, they could easily fire his ass and save the brand and make all this go away 🤷🏼‍♂️

If everytime these MAGA shitheads opened their mouths and lied there was an opposition that refused to back down you’d see endless childish outbursts and the political environment would shift.

Allowing them silence and space only creates an air of normalcy as they pervert reality.

I’m not necessarily saying humans are too dumb to be worthy of our spot at the top of the food chain but I will say that if there were 100 gorillas and one gorilla took 55% of all the bananas the other gorillas would beat that gorilla to death with their bare hands.

Read the whole thread. Stop expecting Democrats to save you. They’re shoveling coal into the same train.
I just want people to look around and notice that politicians and pundits are accepting crazy ideas like taking over Canada and building concentration camps for immigrants and people on medication and debating them.

The problem isn’t just Trump. He’s a symptom of a larger disease.

for a while Musk really did seem like the most relatable billionaire. yeah, if i had that kind of money I'd want to go to space and make sports cars, etc. Turned out that was just PR, and what he really wanted out of life was to be seen as funny by teenaged Nazis on the Internet

But the line has to go up, and what better way to do that than embed the thing no individual wants to buy en masse, such as genAI, into the federal infrastructure in such a way that they’ll never not be in demand contractors extracting your tax dollars? It’s the same extractive model, but automated.

The tech takeover of the federal bureaucratic state makes most sense when you remember that the tech for consumer market has been plateauing for a decade and innovation has stagnated since the advent of the smartphone. There’s no more infinite money anymore in apps and device manufacturing.
