It's wild that the PM of a NATO member feels compelled to put out a statement like this vis-à-vis the US government.

To compound the stupidity, it's important to understand that Venezuela's oil is not economically viable.

It's a lower grade than oil found elsewhere, and it requires special machinery. Venezuela had that, but it's fallen into disrepair.

The cost of transporting it elsewhere to refine is pyrrhic.

Nixon insisted the bombing of Cambodia was just targeting Viet Cong outposts there and not meant to undermine its government, but the bombings destabilized the Lon Nol government and paved the way for the Khmer Rouge’s killing fields and the massacre of more than a million people.
NBC's sources said that "the potential mission in Mexico is not designed to undermine the Mexican government." But that's what it will do if the US is doing CIA drone strikes on Mexican soil over the objections of the president.

But I also refuse to accept that a global power can appoint itself as a moral judge while its history is written in interventions, sanctions, and broken countries.”

Democrats need to grow a f*cking spine.

No more strongly worded letters. It’s time to draft articles of impeachment.

Impeach. Convict. Remove.

See, it’s not hard to denounce this and toe it into the larger pattern of criminality.
Chris Murphy: "Clearly this is wildly illegal. This is a president who has been operating illegally since he was sworn in -- stealing from the American people, seizing spending power, now dragging America into a war overseas ... Donald Trump's entire foreign policy is corrupt."

BASH: There's no question that Maduro was a destabilizing force in the region. People are celebrating in the streets all over. Is it fair to say there's some benefit in him not being in power?

CHRIS MURPHY: What changes? You just heard Sen. Cotton not be able to explain who's running the country

“this is not just the flu” is incorrect, this is what the flu has always been and it is why i am annoying about getting the flu shot. get your kids the flu shot. anyone able to get the flu shot! this is devastating!

A CBS News staffer told me this after Tony Dokoupil kicked off his CBS Evening News tenure tonight with a lengthy Pete Hegseth interview:

"If this is what Bari and Tony’s CBS Evening News is going to look like, then the we may as well just call ourselves Trump Administration State TV. Pathetic."

My position on impeachment is the same as it was six months ago: Impeachment is first about driving public attention to Trump’s crimes and corruption.

Democrats should introduce impeachment articles and force votes to boost their parallel media effort.

Performative public investigations matter.
Why push for impeachment?

Because politics is an exercise in moving public opinion as much as counting votes in the senate.

The Jan 6 Hearings were not a criminal proceeding against Trump that would end in jail, but they focused public attention.

I strongly think that next Dem President will have to sit down with the members of the free world, give them tons of weapons, including nukes, with all the seriousness of someone bitten by a zombie and about to turn.
“I…strongly urge the United States to cease its threats against a historically close ally, and against another country and another people who have stated very clearly that they are not for sale.”

"Trump's greatest sin was failing to inform the special little guys in the Senate" is not the genius politics they imagine
In both undergrad (at an evangelical school!) and later in grad school, admittedly 15-20+ years ago now, just war theory (and deep grappling with other thoughtfully held positions such as pacifism) was a big thing. Congress seems primarily concerned about procedures not being followed. Shameless.

The Democratic Party should be rejected and dismantled and a workers party should rise in its place. We’ll never get out of this hellscape until the collaborationists are outrightly refused by the masses.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz called Maduro's capture "welcome news" but criticized Trump for "apparently failing to notify Congress beforehand".

This is the neoliberal position in a nutshell: Substantively fine with regime change and imperial power projection, just mad about process.
House Democrat calls Trump's Maduro capture 'welcome news' as left labels it 'illegal'
