i'll say it again, my loud and vigorous support for any democrat who calls for televised hearings and criminal charges for everyone involved in DOGE. this guy should never be able to live in peace again.
On the left: Nate Cavanagh, a 28-year-old DOGE staffer and college dropout.

On the right: Mohammad Halimi, a 53-year-old exiled Afghan scholar.

This is the story of how DOGE targeted Halimi on social media.

Then the Taliban took his family. 🧵

The most striking thing about the LA protests is how many people just dropped everything to show up and yell at federal agents. There are people in suits, and carrying dogs, and wearing flip flops or bike helmets.

These are not people who planned to do this today. But there they are.

If you want to prepare for a spicy summer

3M mask with extra filters. Ideally a full face respirator.

Soft body armor of some kind for impact munitions. Doesn't have to be ballistic.

Helmet. Can be ballistic. Can be bump. Even a bicycle helmet can save your life from a grenade.

seconding this. if you get hit directly in the head with an impact munitions like this or a grenade go immediately to the ER. don't stay to protest with your friends. Don't try to be "tough". your night or day is done. seek medical care
Head injuries like Sean's are very serious. Go immediately to the ER even if the victim is alert and talking. Brain swelling has a short delay and bleeds can start later. You can be fine one minute and dead within an hour.
Two LA photojournalists have been shot with tear gas canisters by DHS HSI, including @acatwithnews.bsky.social who was directly targeted by HSI and struck in the head. Sean is en route to the ER with obvious facial injuries. He was conscious and talking when he left the scene.

I don't care if these monstrous ICE raids are a "federal operation". This is authoritarian violence, plain and simple.

Just because Stephen Miller has kidnapping quotas for brown people he doesn't want to see on the street doesn't mean we have to think it's okay.

While RFK Jr. said coronavirus vaccines would be removed from the CDC schedule for healthy children, it’s still recommended in consultation with doctors.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Not that I'm trying to stir things up but I think the thing that's most mystifying to me about the writers-who-don't-read bit is like, writing involves solving a lot of problems, and it's much easier to do that if you look at lots of examples of how other people solved them. Why reinvent the wheel??

this is a great start. and the energy of being a part of this helps offset that sense of doom and isolation. but just standing around outside and yelling putters out after a while.

at any case, glad it's started.
The Treasury Department right now. People are turning out against Musk and DOGE staging a takeover of the Treasury’s payment system. This crowd is big. The whole block is packed. “Lock him up,” everyone yells.
