A lot of people applauding this are assuming he's mobilizing the guard to put a stop to ICE raids, and not to crush the inevitable wave of protests to come from this just like in 2020
Tim Walz is mobilizing the MN National Guard, and reminds Minnesotans that the guard "is OURS - our teachers and our neighbors." He asks Minnesotans to respect them. "They're there to protect you and your constitutional rights. They don't wear masks."

If your position is that responsibility for the Current Moment is ultimately individual and not systemic -- that voters (and non-voters) are the most to blame for Trump's misdeeds -- congratulations! You're a conservative

Love how the genocide champions have discovered agency discourse
Lots of killing on both sides for many decades.
Your blaming only the Israelis betrays the soft bigotry of low expectations. You don’t grant those Arabs living in Gaza ANY agency in their own affairs.

This is a wild thing for someone with an Israeli flag in their name to say

What compels people to talk this way on here? This feels like a very Bluesky-specific style of condescension
Pookie pants, it's called diplomacy. Do you need a dictionary for it? Doing a name search to try to troll in '25 is sad shit. Byeee to mutey land!

Yeah, the discourse about how this place is so much better than the other place hits different when you’re Palestinian. My existence is a political act, it’s divisive, it’s upsetting. Something needs to be done about us.

It’s not great.

She pledged that her admin would maintain Biden's genocidal policy toward Gaza. And regime change in Venezuela has been a bipartisan project for 25+ years, she probably would not have called for all-out war but would certainly have kept supporting ongoing coup attempts. I'll give you Greenland
Fun fact: Kamala Harris wouldn’t have tried to go to war with Venezuela or attempted to annex Greenland. She also wouldn’t have tried to turn Gaza into a shitty real estate project, but it’s not like the people who refused to vote for her ever genuinely cared about that.

99% of what gets labeled as contrarian or heterodox thinking is basically just "supply side neoliberalism and also I should get to say slurs"
Something which isn't always acknowledged is that "contrarian thinkers" are just regurgitating conventional wisdom with a little extra racism, and these forbidden views are generally expressed by the most platformed mainstream figures, like Pinker.

As a rule of thumb, I think if you find yourself typing out the words "How's no compromise on genocide working out," you should probably log off and take a good long walk to think about what in your life brought you to that point
And how's 'No compromise on genocide' working out for everyone targeted by this government? How's it working out for the trans kids? The people disappeared by government thugs?

Are there lines you should not cross to attain victory. Sure, but you better be sure about living with the consequences.

*Me after being hit in the head by a falling anvil causing me to forget every undeclared war the US has waged from Korea to Iraq*
A President has no power to declare war, but Donald John Trump just did that by declaring blockade on Venezuela.

In international law, such a declaration is equivalent to a declaration of war.

If the GOP wants an escape, they could use that and impeach him before the weekend.

As if.

The obvious conclusion to draw from this is that Harris ran a uniquely poor campaign, no great mystery in that
The #1 thing that didn't make sense about the 2024 presidential election is that even as Kamala Harris lost every swing state (according to the vote tallies at least), Democrats won in all but one swing state with senate races and came very close to sweeping them outside the presidential race.
December 14, 2025 at 3:44 PM
If this is the narrative Dems are running with it's an entirely ahistorical one. Trump should have been the easiest Republican to beat since Goldwater. His campaign was underfunded and wildly disorganized, and between Jan 6 and the convictions he was deeply unpopular even in his own party
Kamala Harris may never be president, but the fact she almost won despite facing the prospect of a landslide defeat shows that she paved a new path.

I love this because I can't think of many films with a less ambiguous ending. Every character's arc is tidily wrapped up and the movie literally ends with Tommy Lee Jones staring into the camera explaining the theme
What's going on on that other website?

The Biden admin publicly considered sanctioning the ICC when it issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu
Kamala wouldn’t have had to threaten the ICC just sayin 🤷‍♀️

A nine-post thread on why Harris lost and the word "Gaza" does not appear once
i’m so sick and damn tired of every single day reading about some reason that kamala lost this past election other than bigotry.

she was not a perfect candidate. none of them ever are but the opposition was trump. she did not do anything wrong other than be a Black South Asian woman trying to run.

I'm reminded of before the election when someone on Twitter tried to drag Chapo Trap House for arguing that liberals need a villain like Trump onto whom they can project their racist fantasies of deporting immigrants who don't sufficiently kowtow to them. Chapo has never been more vindicated

One of the things I love about Sabbath is that they invented heavy metal out of whole cloth so rapidly that it took years for the metal aesthetic to catch up to them. Like the dude's singing War Pigs in front of a rainbow backdrop wearing purple fringe

The responses to this are fascinating. I had no idea that liberal 2024 election trutherism was so widespread
Ironically, the U.S. Presidential Election of 2024 was the only election Kamala Harris ever lost.

Her history:
2003 San Francisco District Attorney Election - won
2007 San Francisco DA Election - won
2010 California Attorney General Election - won
2014 California AG Election - won
(continued)
