Julie K. Brown is a reporter for the Miami Herald who did groundbreaking work on Epstein beginning in 2018, including groundbreaking work on the disgusting coverup by Alex Acosta.

Her travel itinerary was released with some of the Epstein files. It appears the DOJ was monitoring her in 2019.

This is both excellent news, AND still a horrendous number of deaths per week.
It's remarkable how low COVID deaths have fallen in the last year. The 2024 summer wave peaked at 1,358 deaths per week; the 2025 summer wave peaked at 466 deaths per week.

It's worth pointing out that deaths and long term complications from the flu are also bad & of concern.

With this administration's attacks on the flu vaccine (which I do not expect to stop) I think it's important that we include prevention of flu in this.

Death from preventable disease is bad!

This is great but really think any talk about this has to exist alongside Long COVID.

Deaths from the acute disease have been decreasing for a while and those of us who have stayed informed have said this for years.

Promising news. But I will continue masking in crowded places, don't have the spoons for even mild colds.

Different people have different risk levels. I don't get the harm in wearing a mask to minimize the risk of viruses killing vulnerable folks including my elderly relatives

The deaths from Covid, flu, etc aren't zero. Get vaccinated and masking means you recognize we live in a society

Yeah, that take is…yikes. I agree that high death rates were ‘front-loaded’ in the sense that the most vulnerable people were completely sacrificed to early waves. But I don’t think anybody is now significantly better protected than they were after the initial 2nd round of vaccines, bcos mutation!

The Second-Order Streisand Effect is a social phenomenon where if a party makes an effort to censor information, discussion and news about the censorship paradoxically leads to an increased awareness of Barbara Streisand, a musician whom most "Zoomers" would probably have otherwise never heard of

If we learned that the Obama or Biden DOJ was casually monitoring the comings and goings of a reporter for any reason, much less b/c she was the lead reporter on all things Epstein, it would be a Watergate-level scandal but of course since it's Trump, one day (at best) and we move right along 🙃

It's been really interesting to watch as this story is just EVERYWHERE on Twitter, but isn't getting much traction on other social sites.
At one point, the two men in this video don’t identify themselves to daycare workers, demand to know where the children are, and then try to yank open the door as the female employees pull on it to keep them out.

The tl;dr is that some right wing guy started showing up to daycares in Minneapolis demanding to see the children. When places were closed and/or wouldn't let him see other people's kids, he claimed this was proof of rampant fraud.

And like... maybe? But his video doesn't establish this.

Good article by Julia, but I would add, don’t just let us be, HELP. Wear a mask in places where high risk people have to be, so you aren’t *contributing* to their risk. This is ground zero of a you’re either helping or hurting situation.
Wrote about how disappointing it is that Jon Stewart punched down on people masking at @motherjones.com, when people should mind their own business and leave mask wearers be. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.
