Nor-Cal rooted. Trying to get back into being more active politically and artistically. Will never pass up a good movie, book, drink or time. Semi-luddite, fully tired of all this BS.

I'm searching Getty Images and found some photos credited to the Boston Herald that redact the faces of ICE/federal agents. They don't redact the face of the guy they're arresting.

I'm curious about the ethics of doing this. I don't think I've ever seen this on Getty before.

Hiring a Black woman: “identity politics”

Hiring a white guy for a job that has been held disproportionately by white guys, because he is a white guy: “subverting” identity politics!

(The author of this sentence is Dylan Byers; you will not be surprised to learn that he is a white guy.)

“What?”

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Let us be incredibly, abundantly clear:

We are demanding that Chuck Schumer resign for his continued betrayal of the American people.

If he does not willingly step aside, we are calling on the Senators in the Dem caucus to remove him and Dick Durbin from Senate leadership.

The problem isn't that they caved for a promised vote; the problem is that the vote will be a meaningless gesture impressing no one but Senate Democrats.

It will fail. ACA beneficiaries will suffer considerably as a result and there will be no consequences of any kind for Republicans.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

Folks, a pill to swallow: if current Democrats will cave to your healthcare, they will cave to your voting rights. If they will cave to you not getting paid for 40 days, they will cave to LGBTQ+ marriage. If they cave to stalling our airplanes, they will cave to destroying our National Parks.

Omg the contrast between Mamdani's inspired speech to constant cheers and Newsom ranting in silence with his partner awkwardly smiling and nodding behind him is sending me 😂😂😂

This whole speech was amazing- If you haven't seen it yet go watch/listen!

It gave hope and unity and optimism and strength and sincerity; all of those vital elements we are in such great need of now.
Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

As someone who has never been to NYC, I am extremely thankful the mayoral race is ending and but I am going to miss getting to see Sliwa's palpable disdain for Cuomo on a near daily basis.

Can he write a newsletter about how much Cuomo sucks? Can it have a crossword puzzle and cat adoptions?
