you know this guy is a FOR REAL photographer because he's telling the story of his brutal, unconditional arrest by federal goons and can't help but slip in a gear review
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Hands up if you've deliberately travelled to another town or city just to see a movie.

Yep. Quite a few times. Including thanks to Netflix's own limited release model sometimes.

Finished rewatching the 'Violet Evergarden' TV series, and it remains a visually stunning and achingly beautiful show that explores love, grief, and the struggle of expressing one's feelings; two of the episodes moved me to tears*, so great stuff all around.

Midway through season 11 of 'King of the Hill' now.

Even though it's a parody, 'Pro-Pain' was a pretty accurate guess at what would eventually become GTA Online, I'll tell you hwhat.

Again it is something that people in previous eras have commented on but I still find it just astonishing to witness in my own: fascism is somehow the natural ideology of loser men, just all of our most pathetic and contemptible instincts rendered into a worldview.

Since I doubt Warner Bros. will ever release 'Justice League' or 'Justice League Unlimited' in the UK, I lucked out and managed to buy the imported US Blu-Ray set on sale.

'Justice League Unlimited' is the DCAU at its finest, and it's a shame that it isn't readily available to people everywhere.

Comic-con deciding to allow GenAi imagery in the art show —giving valuable space to GenAi users to show slop right NEXT to actual artists who worked their asses off to be there— is a disgrace!

A tone deaf decision that rewards and normalizes exploitative GenAi against artists in their own spaces!

The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

A Saturday night movie, with a rewatch of 'Justice League: The New Frontier', the very enjoyable adaptation of Darwyn Cooke's iconic limited series about the heroes of the DC universe confronting 1950's Cold War paranoia and politics as the Golden Age ends and the Silver Age starts to take shape.

Long first week back at work and ahead of a weekend of errands, more unpacking, and cleaning, I've decided to rewatch a couple of 'Batman: The Animated Series' episodes from my Blu-Ray boxset that I dug out.

It's a good Friday evening.

I would really caution anyone against implying that paywalling this feature is a legitimate response to public outcry. The paywall is an endorsement, not a restriction. Musk is saying "this thing you're all talking about is valuable. Pay me for it." The actual material effect is just monetization.
