This is an excellent piece, not just about school lunch debt, but how we manage the relationship between working for systemic change and mitigating immediate harm.

This Pieris japonica “Flaming Silver” is blooming wildly this year. I love that the bright red new foliage makes it look like the plant has two different types of flowers. 🌱

Ronan is my shadow, my writing buddy, and my best friend. Right now, he’s paralyzed and fighting for his life.

He needs life-saving surgery (that I can’t afford) to survive. Anything you can do — donations, shares — would be a gift.

Free Covid tests!

My understanding is this is still happening and anyone can order—just spoke to someone who ordered 3000 tests as an individual and was able to very quickly distribute them out to interested groups!

And let me emphasize: for free!!
If you or your mutual aid group want to get some of that federal stockpile of COVID tests, you can order them for free. Minimum is 300, unclear what the max is! my local clean air group just did this and they arrived quickly:

Great article about tropes. This made me smile: “It’s brilliant to be an experienced enough genre reader to appreciate when the author’s doing a specific trope a specific way because they know what the trope is, and you know what the trope is, and you’re both having some fun with it.”
what if tropes, but too much?

(in my latest for @reactorsff.bsky.social, I wrote about how romantasy publishers are feeding me so many tropes I feel like Bruce Bogtrotter with the chocolate cake.)

If you could use a little brightness in your day, I recommend spending some time with sled dog MUPPY. I’m genuinely obsessed with her. She is an icon. She is a legend. Her legs are 4 inches long.

Let’s help Celeste the way she’s helped all of us.
Hey all, I have a specific request this AM.

There's an urgent situation involving this (which Martha references in the original description), and the total needs to be doubled.

Martha's OOO so I don't want to bother her to change the amount, but I'm asking for your help.

Seriously, creative folks: Don't be afraid to let people know your stuff is out there for them, or worry that "now is not the time for that." People are stressed and freaked out and looking for the things that will give them a moment of rest and joy. It is EXACTLY the time for what we do. Tell them.

I have to go to a medical appointment next week where I can’t use my usual 3M half-face respirator, so we did some home fit testing with N95s yesterday.

- Tried on: 8 respirators
- Fit tested: 4
- Passed the test: 2 (3M Aura 9210+ and Dräger X-plore 1950)

I’m pleased to have two options!
