Everyone involved in this process, end to end, must face a sort of Nuremberg trial
NEW: A SECOND story was released today of a Venezuelan man disappeared by the Trump admin. Neiyerver Leon is a barber who entered legally seeking asylum in June 2023. ICE arrested him on March 13 and accused him of being in TdA.

Days later, he vanished off the face of the earth.

I am apoplectic about this. The first thing you say about Ted Bundy is that he killed women, and then if you really feel like it you can talk about how charming he was or whatever. The first thing you say about RFK is that he’s pro-measles.
A second kid just died of measles.

Keynesianism is like Ozempic in that it's something that works but makes people mad because they want moral hazard to be involved
There’s a certain kind of person who thinks Keynesian stimulus is “putting off” a necessary correction and I’m always amazed how many of them there are.

I have an illustrated piece on the life of a dairy cow, finally out in the world! The dairy industry is brutal. There's really no good reason to mass produce another mammal for its maternal milk

i want nothing more than for jd vance to become a pariah whose name is a burden on him for the rest of his life.
JD Vance claims the Maryland father the Trump administration mistakenly deported to a slave prison in El Salvador wasn't "father of the year" bc he had "traffic violations," and says "we do not ask permission from far left Democrats before we deport illegal immigrants."

for a week or so during the election Vance was reminded by interviewers that he had once compared his running mate Donald Trump to Hitler. Vance assured us that he had changed his mind - but really seems like he changed his mind about Hitler, not Trump
"Europe is on the brink of civilizational suicide," US Vice President Vance told Fox News. "Countries don’t control borders, restrict free speech. If Germany takes in millions more incompatible migrants, it’ll destroy itself. America can’t save it."

everyone should listen to this in its entirety but journalists should listen to it multiple times. this is how you ask questions. you just keep asking simple, easily answerable stuff and the evasiveness becomes that much more glaring
In which the Department of Homeland Security struggles to answer a very simple question: "Is any criticism of the United States government a deportable offense?"

i mean, the whole thing is that earnestly believing in anything — literally anything — is at odds with all of their worldviews. that's the thing that unites trump, musk, vance, miller, and most of the cabinet heads. they all think that principles, values, and beliefs are for suckers.
There’s not even like a coherent ideology anymore. It’s just “would this piss off people with actual earnest beliefs about the world? Yes? Okay do it.”

The way we complain about egg prices and not the calamitous mass decimation of life forms from albatrosses to dolphins across the ends of the Earth or the billions of hens cooked alive in feeble attempts to stifle a pandemic arisen as a consequence of our greed says something about us, as a society.
Wow, finally happened: The average wholesale price for a dozen large white eggs has now broken $8, per USDA.

Of this global agricultural land, 80% is used for livestock, despite meat and dairy making up a much smaller share of the world's protein and calories.

I would caution anyone entertaining this sentiment. Mass protests are likely to be dangerous. We no longer live in a country where the right to peacefully assemble exists for opponents of the regime.
We’re gonna have to march.

The most hysterical takes on 2015 were that Trump was a Nazi who would destroy the US economy and like... they were right to the last comma
It would be nice to see mainstream media acknowledge that every alarmist in their ranks about Trump and his henchmen has been correct, and every single "Let's all calm down" guy--a posture of blasé detachment that is consistently over-rewarded in legacy media--has called it wrong from day one.
