Senate Ds did fight every step of way, made the bill toxic, forced Tillis to retire, made them vote in broad daylight as bill got worse, nixed some truly awful parts. They need more members. In 2026, vote out every R. That is what the lesson is here.

Grateful to Mackenzie Scott, who has made a profound impact with her selfless philanthropy.

However, we as a society cannot rely on the largesse of billionaires to fund science & social programs. We need to invest our own tax dollars in our own well-being & our future.
Just a reminder that while her ex nonstop soils himself in public with tasteless displays of wealth and look-at-me, thirsty nonsense, Mackenzie Scott has given away close to $20 billion to 1,600 charities, no strings attached and without any need for recognition.

Tired of criticizing the Ds for stuff they had and have no ability to change, @nytpitchbot.bsky.social is bashing them for stuff they haven't yet done. Without considering how the @nytimes.com would react to Ds breaking the law etc.

Seldom funny now, more and more counterproductive.
Opinion | Trump broke the law to destroy the country. That doesn’t mean Democrats should break the law to rebuild it.

Eager to soothe Trump’s wounded ego, the Supreme Court ended nationwide injunctions today. Trump is crowing, but this just means we’ll take our smashing wins in 4 district courts and turn them into wins in 94 district courts. People born here are citizens, period.

So my former political party has become a fascist-embracing cult, but everybody goes on & on about how messed up the Democratic Party is? Seriously? It’s the “Democratic Party” that has issues? Not the party that’s given up on democracy and ignores the rule of law?

Fuck that.

SAGO Report is out:

1️⃣ No new data in report
2️⃣ Not bioweapon, man-made, or engineered
3️⃣ All scientific evidence points to zoonosis
4️⃣ No evidence for lab leak
5️⃣ New evidence could swing the conclusion

In other words, what we concluded in April, 2020. Five years later.

Dems win on the sale of public lands: Rs may not sell of our public lands!

Other huge victories in this area around making oil and gas leasing, mining, pay-to-play for oil and gas exports, and NEPA compliance

ENR and Senate Budget Dem staff crushed it

Got a lot of shit for this thread at the time, but I was right. House Dems have shown many times that they are not all in on seniority, the top priorities are ability and competence. That's what happened with this vote. Anyway, this held up quite well
bsky.app/profile/frit...
Another piece of important info, which I fear like the above is largely forgotten here, is that House Dems replaced committee leaders who both had seniority and were already in the position just six months ago. Demonstrably, seniority is not determinative
bsky.app/profile/pete...
she senses that nothing has really changed and that again they’ll use seniority as the primary marker. not going to waste her time

I STILL TO THIS DAY CANNOT BELIEVE THAT TIM WALZ TOOK OVER THE ENTIRE 2024 RACE BY CALLING THEM "WEIRDOS" AND IT COMPLETELY DEMORALIZED THEM AND THEN ***THEY JUST STOPPED DOING IT***

Melissa Hortman, who was assassinated last night, was the Speaker of the Minnesota House in the 2023-2024 session, when Democrats ran the state government.

That means she had a leading role in shepherding the many landmark reforms that Dems adopted in that period—an important legacy. Brief 🧵.

Some thoughts about the military parade in my hometown of Washington DC today -- specifically, the route. Military parades in DC are quite rare. But when they happen, they have always begun, symbolically and geographically, at the Capitol and moved outward. 1/

One not-so-secret aspect of the attempt to occupy Los Angeles and other "blue" American cities? Not enough manpower to do the job. Trump and Miller are counting on your fear and obedience to do the work for them. Troops and total police officers? Not nearly enough. So speak out and march peacefully.

These distorted incentives have existed for a long time but they are greatly exacerbated by the conditions of the attention age. One of the ways King et al in the civil rights movement threaded the needle was to create drama and confrontation *while also* maintaining non violent discipline.
