100%. Stop funding them.
Ansari: I think ICE is completely out of control, and there should be no more funding given to ICE. The funding that's already has been given to them through the big ugly bill should be stripped entirely

Here's a thing I need from you all.

When we get through to the other side of things. When.

I need you to now, take a coin sized piece of anger and hate, and I need you to freeze that thing. I need you to keep it cold and hard and next to your heart.

So when we come through to the other side

So local gem of a bookstore @charliesqueerbooks.bsky.social got wrongly marked as “closed” in a database, meaning UPS stopped delivering new book shipments right at the peak of holiday shopping/hockey romance enthusiasm.

But you can help! Buy a book!

This is a frightening situation. But no matter how many times the regime may claim otherwise: Most Americans are not ready to give up the Republic to a bunch of goons in masks terrorizing the streets. They are not ready to give up on democracy just yet. This is not the time for defeatist cynicism.

The non-apology apology has long been an irritation of mine. Moxon does a great job breaking down why it's so common.
Today I wrote about our white supremacist political movement's perverse insistence that "we don't have to apologize for being white anymore."

Conservatives have been apologizing, apparently. Did you know? I had no idea. So I asked, and here's what I found.

Those shining adamantine feathers, sharper than death, slice all creatures in their path to molecule-thin ribbons, blood raining down onto acres of land rendered poisonous for decades.

So maybe reconsider

Cosigning this thread. GenAI has no place in schools, and should find no quarter in our lives. The way to push back is STARVING IT. Refuse to use it, don't engage with people who do.
Thanks for sharing this document, @rweingarten.bsky.social.

I read it, and I believe it's inexcusably inadequate and will not prepare teachers or schools to confront the very real dangers of the "A.i." products pushed by your partners, including OpenAI.

A few thoughts for your consideration...

i’m probably better & more stably employed than i have ever been but it’s the “professional” world & what that cost me was spending my day to day with a room full of fascinating people with radically different life stories.

i need healthcare, never before had stability, but that cost is *huge.*
Hot take, but it’s both important and good to have friends who are making less than six figures

By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

1. Wear cotton socks! Cotton is nice and soft next to your skin and will absorb your sweat so your feet stay warm. Cotton everything but ESPECIALLY socks!

The normalization of this madness is so quick that we’re debating whether a second illegal strike was wrong after an initial illegal strike with no proof of any crime and we’ve already seen just random murders of fishermen normalized with the excuse they’re running drugs, which isn’t legal either.
