It would have been Bernard Cribbins' 97th birthday today.
My class made a video to go with his 'Right, Said Fred' and I gave him a copy.
He asked for the names of every child involved.
A couple.of weeks later, the school received a box of goodies and handwritten notes for every child.
A legend.

Exactly this. The insanity of banging on about free speech half the time, and bleating "Look at this tweet! Deport him!" the other half, is never pointed out - and never EVER challenged, in softball interviews intended to elicit maximum heat and minimum light.

It is utterly exhausting.
We need a Ken Clarke type figure to tell people to stop being so ridiculous, if we stripped citizenship every time somebody said appalling things, we’d be expelling an awfully large number of people

A friend just gave me "The Mathematicians' Library" - early xmas gift. It's a beautiful looking tour of great books of mathematics from history. Lovely reproductions. Can't wait to properly read it.

Please keep beautiful Wales Farage free. Nathan Gill is now in prison but he's not the only Russian asset.
I live in Wales and today received my Join Us letter from Reform UK, complete with SAE which I posted back to them, immediately, empty. If every other person in Wales did this, Reform would spend over £1.5 million on postage. Not sorry. Join me Cymru.

I hadn't watched #BBCQT in a while. Fiona Bruce's insane bias to the right wing reminded me why it's so frustrating.

Allows the Greens and LD to be constantly shouted over, interrupting them constantly herself, while letting the Reform sociopath insult the audience and lie through his teeth.

I am once more asking what is the point of local government if they cannot even manage to protect a play park that has massive public support from three nimbys. What kind of democracy is this?

45 years ago I made a pitch for the Director-General job. Didn’t get it – mind you, I was only 13. But I did get a reply from Ian Trethowan, who was DG at the time. All these years later I’m proud to work for the BBC.

NEW There's no overstating how significant the Nathan Gill case is. On Friday, the close associate of Nigel Farage was jailed for over 10 years for taking bribes ultimately from a friend of Putin. It's a complex, detail-heavy story that raises questions about Farage’s claim Gill was ‘one bad apple’🧵

Was a true pleasure to go to Nottingham to interview Ken Clarke, truly the archetypal big political beast.

In an extended conversation, we talk about Reeves nightmare Budget, his long political journey and his fears for where politics might go next.

The importance of place and native names always seems to cause such hateful division in Cymru, which I don’t understand.

It’s so sad people cannot grasp what magic it brings to landscapes to embrace their native Cymraeg names.

Let’s look at ‘The Spinnies’. A local nature reserve 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
