looking even cooler and cooler that Denver’s mayor overrode a city council vote to continue using Flock cameras in the city
67 people-tracking Flock cameras across the U.S. were live-streaming on the internet, easily accessible with no login needed, @404media.co & @bennjordan.bsky.social found.

We know of five compromised Flock cams in Colorado.

One belongs to Douglas County, and it's at an open space trailhead.

I wrote about the ways propaganda takes root, how attacks against trans people in the US and UK reflect different mythologies of protection, and why combating disinformation at the local level might be a more effective way to dismantle these frameworks than abstract online arguments with strangers.
You're soaking in it
Propaganda, transphobia, and an end to manufacturing hate.

did a lot of people do a lot of really unspeakably disgusting, evil things? absolutely. but investigative files are full of weird fake tips and they released all of those on purpose to flood the zone so you’ll take the bait 500 times, start feeling foolish, and either go tinfoil hat or give up.

Rick Steves is a solid dude
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Ever since Lee Greenwood hit the charts when I was a kid, I've always thought it was weird for people to be proud of just being born somewhere.

Yeah, my religious extremist ancestors came on the Mayflower. Whoopty freakin doo.

You know what's something to be proud of? Surviving the Darien Gap.
If immigrating from England makes you a "heritage American" then I guess I'm one too.

“I look down at the crashing swell. Alone at the after-party, a kind of honeymoon in hell. I am on the list, a bit of grave misfortune. I am in the New York Post, even worse. The ink is black, the pages yellow. Everything, some kind of lie. What of doubt? Scientists cannot see the soul.”
Sentences From American Canto That Sent Me To The Hospital
I reviewed Olivia Nuzzi's American Canto for Slate. There's far less RFK Jr. in it than you'd expect.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

When I was a baby activist, Faith Winter invited us to her office for opening day 2017. Her two kids were there, and she welcomed my friend's 2 small children as well. It was intimidating walking into the Capital for the first time, and she made us feel like we belonged there as citizens of CO. RIP
