Legalization has wrested control of sports betting from organized crime.

But with few federal regulations in place and almost no public education on the newly sanctioned activity, many working-class people are now falling prey to another group of predators.

We are concerned about the loss of insects, but we live in a fallow desolate land few would recognize; the birds once blotted the sky for hours at a time, the fish so numerous the surface of the waters teemed with them so as to seem like you could walk on the surface. We live in ashes.

Community: You got that new rail corridor rendering for us?

Metrolinx: Sure do boss, real bleak and strangely melancholy just like you asked

Community: what
Metrolinx was looking at a new track east of Union Station (north side of the corridor) to Corktown Common. Apparently there was community uproar. Seeing this rendering, I don't blame them. If you're changing the space, you can't make it a cold utilitarian lane like this. Placemaking must happen.

Radio signals fuck me up bc it's like. When you're a child and you can just barely grasp a concept? Like.. there is something there. When I got an ultrasound and they saw something but they didnt know if it was cancer. When a submarine pings and they can't tell if it's a pod of whales or a kraken

Democracies do not use their military to try and intimidate their own citizens with “shows of presence”.

This is fascism.
Military documents confirm that the LA operation today was a “show of presence” intended to send a message to LA residents about the power of the federal government.

After staging with armed soldiers and Border Patrol agents on horse, they packed up and left after a short walk.
