No, using AI generated stuff as a "placeholder" on your crowdfunding campaign is not OK either.
If the visuals are THAT important to getting your project funded, then you need to pay a person up front for those key visuals and deliver a consistent end product to your backers.

My nuanced and thoughtful take is that this is a reasonable criticism of Picard, a show where the lead character has decades of established speech patterns, and otherwise Berman can go swimming in a dumpster full of bin juice while Braga gets into a slightly-less-moist bin.

So glad that my healthcare will now cost… more money than I make. Cool. Cool cool cool. Can Chuck’s imaginary friends face consequences for this?

Reading a craft book written by an MFA guy and it's become extremely clear very quickly that he was not taught a lot of basic storytelling principles.

A bunch of writer friends are noting that they have not used LLMs to write. Me either, absolutely not. I feel like we need to stop asking kids what they want to BE when they grow up and start asking them what they want to DO. Because: I am not here to BE A WRITER, I am here to WRITE.

Absolutely unforgivable that we’ve let there even be a conversation about it being okay to be an ignorant piece of shit or fascist, as though woke or antifa could ever be less than baselines of decency let alone insults.

Is anyone keeping up with Semple’s Abode updates?

This isn’t even current! It’s presumably worse now. wtf are we we as a society even doing?
My usual two political hard lines are: siding with those who believe in human rights for all, and siding with those support everyone being able to vote—but maybe I need to add a third thing: stopping this.

With all due love and respect and appreciation for Jessie and imposter syndrome and dunning-Kruger and the general shittiness of the internet and the world at large… Jessie might as well have been built in a lab specifically as a fundamentally perfect match for the internet era.
I really just feel more and more every day that I was not meant to be alive during the internet era. I was fundamentally not built for it.

Not only that, but many of them have access to discounts when purchasing food that a lot of us don’t. Cash goes further. If you want to feel a more personal connection, though, volunteer! Lots of food banks need extra hands, to distribute food or to sort and shelve incoming donations.
Did not know that food banks don't pay sales tax, so their dollar can stretch more!! Cash donate to your local food bank!!
SNAP benefits are under attack during this government shutdown and food banks are picking up the slack.
But they need your help. Here are the best ways to do that:

People have been saying WoK is a submarine thriller since, well, the Meyer, but the fact that the genre informs SOME of the film just doesn’t make it so.
Red October is a very specific kind of (sorta, but also not really a) submarine thriller, and WoK is even further from that.
BoT, otoh, IS.

something…annoying…about replies to this that are just like “this is wrath of khan.” first of all, i am aware of the existence of WRATH OF KHAN. second of all, although WRATH is a submarine movie, it is more RUN SILENT RUN DEEP than RED OCTOBER
what star wars really need is a HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER style submarine thriller

So I reskeeted this before, but it’s worth noting that while it’s applicable in general, and that’s truly fantastic, it’s specifically about transphobes (the ones who need to fix their hearts or die) and trans equality—and some people sharing might appreciate it in a general sense, which is fine…
I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

If you have a tendency towards thinking real cars are bumper cars and treating the highway as an amusement park track, I’m not sure if it’s the car manufacturer’s fault unless they specifically sold it to you first that exact reason.

Pros: super interesting, getting a lot out of a single set
Cons: flatly cavernous, getting too much out of a single set
All the treks flirt with the notion of squeezing everything into the bridge, make it “more useful”…

Unfortunately I have the awful choice of listening to the new THE MOUNTAIN GOATS album either in bits and pieces throughout my work day or waiting to listen in full after work, and let’s be honest I don’t have that kind of patience.

I’m pretty clear in my anti-‘ai’ stance, so keep that in mind when I say I’ve got trepidations about the angle of attack on that garbage in regard to the suicidal situations.
