One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.
Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

This is exactly what I'm on about (and exemplar for why I canceled my WaPo sub). He's not "testing the limits." He's "being an asshole." He's shitposting a beloved public figure while most people are grieving. There's no political savvy here, just cruelty and narcissism.

Here it is. The best summary of the man I've seen. Everyone in the press needs to read this and cover him from this perspective. No more asking "why." No more asking "how does this square with..." It doesn't. There's nothing to square it with. He's a bully, a narcissist, and cares only for himself.
Virginia Heffernan wrote this shortly after the 2016 election and it still holds true

In a normal world, it would be, but the people who are responsible for pursuing this action are the very people who stand to lose the most if he's removed. If he's truly as compromised mentally as people claim, he's more use as an unwitting puppet than a former president.
I know we’ve been talking about the 25th Amendment being invoked for years now, but we should probably be talking about it a lot more and a lot more seriously right now.
Couple of things here:

1. Trump says he took another cognitive test recently

2. In front of "large numbers of doctors and experts"

3. He called the examinations "long...and very boring"

4. If you're given 3 cognitive exams in one year by panels of doctors, something is VERY wrong with you

Massie apparently wants everyone to forget that the one time Article V of the NATO treaty was invoked was in defense of the United States of America. Those "socialist countries" came to our defense after we were attacked and we led them into not one, but two quagmires. Withdrawal would be

I can't emphasize how much no one should give this air, but here we are.
Don't watch it.
The surprise at the end is that they're going on a trip to Auschwitz. Their excitement over this trip is really disturbing and implies that they're not going there as a way to honor the victims.
I can’t emphasize enough how much you need to watch this until the end

It was so nice and quiet here in the office while everyone else was at the office holiday "party." Wish it could have been an all-day event. The silence would have been so blissful.

Also worth mentioning: some of us can't consume sugar for various reasons. Also not anyone's business. Also requires a bit of flexibility since lots of mocktails go heavy on the simple syrup.
A very easy solution is to make a lovely punch. Put a bottle of rum on the side for people who want it alcoholic.

Same with eggnog.

I mean have other stuff too but a lot of classic holiday beverages are really easy to just do non-alcoholic as the default.
Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

As a life-long RPG and model train enthusiast, I always saw op sessions this way. Or like a tabletop strategy boardgame writ large. The rules are the operating rules of the railroad. The board is the layout. The game pieces are the trains themselves. It's a big co-op game to get every piece...
Jokes aside, you're not incorrect!

These are called "operations sessions" where entire trains are made up to then either run over the railroad (dungeon) and/or go and swap freight cars in factories with inbound loaded or empty cars. (Switching)

If done well it's very fun and VERY much a D&D vibe

Democrats! Start telling people why your programs are Good, Actually!
I looked it up once. SNAP takes 2% of the US budget and 93% of the money goes to the actual poor people instead of to the bureaucracy. So it's kind of like if you paid $1000 in taxes, you spent $20 on the poor of which they got to keep $18.60, and you spent $166.66 on the military.
SNAP is probably the most effective federal dollar we spend in terms of long term domestic economic outcomes.

that isn’t why you should support it; you should support it because it is a moral imperative to feed the hungry.

but it’s why even a growth-oriented ghoul shouldn’t oppose it.

I hadn't seen this mentioned elsewhere: it was the first round fired that exploded prematurely, after which no further rounds were fired, which implies this could have been much worse. Thankful for the Marine Corps leaders who halted the exercise.

With other men, probably a 1 or 2 at best. I'm not small, but I am very slight and don't have any interest in physical confrontation.
With women, I'd guess most men are a 7 baseline, so that's probably where I am, regardless of any other considerations.
