I'm invoking a power from the universe within me, the stardust, to speak as truthfully and bluntly as possible because we simply do not have time for anything else; to seize opportunities to do thankless work that matters to someone in need; to sacrifice convenience sometimes but not humanity.

This is why it’s so hard to understand any defense of Gavin Newsom, too. If you’re willing to sacrifice one vulnerable group in the hopes that fascism will crush you last you’re not only a bigot, you’re a fucking mark.

I’m not great at converting rage into fuel myself.

I can usually only find my way forward through humility.
Can I be a little honest right now?

I know how I’m supposed to talk about utilizing anger and spite as a motivator, but those things don’t actually work for me at all? Like it actually doesn’t make me feel good when My Haters are upset?

"We need to teach students how to use AI so they can compete in the workforce"

The workforce using AI:
When AI was added to a tool for sinus surgery: “Cerebrospinal fluid leaked from one patient’s nose. In another… a surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of a patient’s skull. In two other cases, patients suffered strokes after a major artery was accidentally injured”

As AI enters the operating room, reports arise of botched surgeries and misidentified body parts
Medical device makers have been rushing to add AI to their products. While proponents say the new technology will revolutionize medicine, regulators are receiving a rising number of claims of patient ...

“[M]any are being extra cautious to stay healthy during the most important competitions of their lives.” I should think so! The Artemis II astronauts are in quarantine too. It’s a bummer, but regular people would do well to consider, “do I want to be sick on my wedding day? The big trip? Christmas?”

For most people, the pandemic days of masking are behind us. In certain corners of the Winter Olympics, though, things still look a lot like they did in Covid times. Some athletes are taking extreme measures to stay healthy. n.pr/4akK70l

always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

“the worst people just won’t wear seat belts,” and this is why seat belts have manifestly done nothing to improve road safety over the past half century
You would immediately be able to buy a speed limiter hacking kit on the black market and all the worst people would have them disabled. We've seen this before with every other technological solution to a societal problem, from covid vaccination cards to plane transponders.

Can someone explain what doorbell cameras are actually for?
And do they actually do those things?
i'm baffled by all the people in the replies to posts about the spy doorbells asking for alternatives. like... the alternative is a regualr fucking doorbell with no camera in it. or a door knocker. get you a weird gargoyle guy! you dont need a camera!
