I know that most Americans don't give two cents about Eurovision, but it's a big freaking deal. And to have FOUR prominent nations boycott (with another 4 possibly to follow suit) over Israel's conduct in Palestine is a HUGE deal.
Losing Spain (one of the Big Five), the Netherlands (biggest financial contributor outside the Big 5), Ireland (most Eurovision wins), and Slovenia (pivotal in getting more of Eastern Europe involved post-Cold War) will break Eurovision. All because the EBU want to protect the Special Country

Maybe instead of committing atrocities, we could just make the rich pay their fair share and have universal healthcare and affordable housing instead.

Idk, just spitballing here.

“The decision was made to exclude me from the filmed production of Swan Lake because I was told my brown skin would disrupt the aesthetic.” ~ Misty Copeland

When folks gripe about DEI, remind them who benefited from shutting out dancers like Copeland. That pattern runs through our whole history.

The good news:

1) Aftyn Behn moved a ruby red district 12 points more blue.

2) She can and should run again in the midterm election.

3) With real investment and good candidates, every R+ 7 or less seat is now in play.

The bad news:

Rural white voters are still the absolute worst.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

If you'd like some good news on AI, the last few weeks have seen execs across multiple industries strive to hide AI usage labeling on their products because, as many of us have said FOR YEARS, the audience that *doesn't* want AI is substantial and we will reject your product whole hog for using it.

The phrase "Fox News weekend co-host" appears nowhere in the Constitution, so it's hard to imagine even the most activist judge allowing Pete Hegseth to stand trial for war crimes.

This is a long, brutal, and necessary thread.

It also might be the most horrifying thing I've read this year. And it's REAL.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

My eyes are welling up as I watch this.

I think that's been the hardest thing about the last decade: the absence of kindness.

To see an elected official offering kindness does give me hope.

Sure, it's performative. But it's a KIND performance.

After so much cruelty, this performance soothes.
Combatting poverty and hunger in this city will take every single one of us. Myself included.

Stephen A promotes an agenda that’s in sync with The Powers That Be. He doesn’t inform, he entertains. Stephen A’s job is to maintain the status quo. White clowns down need to wear blackface anymore when there’s so many compliant House Negroes willing to do it instead.

I take on average 10,000 stills and a half hour of video every week. Most I'll never think about again. This I'll hold onto until I grow old. 4 hours ago.

Zero edits. No recoloring. No cropping. Nothing. Just straight up reality. 🦑

Anyway the reason you dismiss Platner at this stage is not because you think he's a secret nazi, you dismiss him because he should have seen this coming from a million miles away and had all his ducks in a row on it before running for political office
