I do not like your AI slop
I do not want this worthless glop
I do not read its overviews
I don't care what Grok says is true
I do not like it here nor there
I'm tired of it everywhere

Admin: Another person having to cancel bc they're sick. But it's that time of year! What can you do?
Me, masked and laughing: I know what to do! I know EXACTLY what to do! IF ONLY PEOPLE COULD SOMEHOW SEE WHAT I DO!

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

In EVERYTHING. not just government. not just aid. everything should be like this.
The goal should be to build structures that are distributed enough and resilient enough that the presence or absence of any one person does not determine success or failure

COVID is surging.

Care because the research re long COVID is grim. It’s more common & damaging than you’ve been told.

Care because the fascists in charge, like all fascists, weaponize illness to harm resistance movements & targeted groups.

Mask to protect yourself & others.

This is also 21st century thinking. Fauci said “the vulnerable will fall by the wayside” & y’all didn’t blink. It would have been more truthful tho if he said “only ppl who die or get Long Covid will be harmed by Covid—this will include healthy ppl, but they won’t be healthy *anymore,* so fuck em!”
The deeper meaning behind "almost no healthy children die of the measles" is that, when children do die of the measles, it's only ever because they were already ill. And the deeper meaning behind that is "well, we can't save 'em all." And that's just...17th century thinking.

Covid is a social justice issue. For many of the most vulnerable, the pandemic never ended.

People decided to 'go back to normal' because it's what they wanted, not because it was over.

Society's unwillingness to address Covid means those of us who care must work twice as hard to avoid infection

2. If you used to be silly but have stopped, you must make all efforts to return to silliness

When I was talking a lot about getting prepared for FEMA cuts and trade war, someone told me apologetically needed to mute me because it was stressful hearing about preparation they couldn't afford to do.

That's a huge stress right now for ALL of us, I think-- there is no getting fully prepared.

For us illness-avoiders, we’ve already built the mask blocs, anti-sickness inclusive gatherings and basement testing labs. We know how to do this and we can teach others how
Now is a good time to rethink your emotional relationship to the state, if you haven't already.

We are taught from birth to think of the state as the be all and end all for how we govern ourselves and allocate our resources.

But there are other ways.

It is time to emotionally distance.

Reminder that protecting each other from illness and potential disability/death when the people in charge actively want us dead is actually punk as fuck.
Simple disease prevention is community care.
It is resistance.

Please mask up, especially at protests.

I know this is going to make a lot of people uncomfortable but I'd invite them to sit with it.

There was a moment where the science pointed one way and we as a society said, fuck it, we're going the other way.

And then everyone just pretended that science agreed.

Which, by the way.

Someday we are going to have to come to terms with the fact that COVID minimization was (is) a form of disinformation and that our collective, willful departure from science played a role in the rise of irreality proponents like RFK Jr.
Actually let me be more clear. It's not that COVID broke our brains.

What broke our brains was the willful, eugenic denial the "normality at any cost" crew pushed. We're all literally afraid to acknowledge that illness exists now.

Kind of weird how much we've separated egg prices from the h5n1 virus. Like we get that's why eggs are expensive? Because we've failed to contain it and farmers have had to cull large amounts of chickens leading to a reduction in production?

Good thread; my work has a bit to say about this. First, the constant rebranding/redefinition of the in-group and out-groups is a critical element of extremist ideology. Extremist is grounded on a crisis caused by out-groups, which the in-group must solve through hostile action. 1/x
I want some linguist or sociologist or something to do a study on the lifecycle of terminology on the right. I've seen the same cycle repeat itself dozens, hundreds of times over the years.

It goes like this: 🧵
