Five Tiers of RPG Publishing
Hasbro’s annual earnings came out this week, so I took a look. It is truly staggering how much Wizards of the Coast has changed the company since they were acquired; when looking at unadjusted earnings the Wizards of the Coast and Digital Games division was the only one that turned a profit in the entire company. Not only that, but Wizards is responsible for roughly 47% of the entire company’s revenue and over 90% of all revenue growth over the last year.

Head's up, there is a #Kickstarter phishing email going around.

The email is saying your account is restricted because your bank information hasn't been fully verified with a link!

DO NOT CLICK IT or go to that URL!

It came through as a MESSAGE with the name NotificationBot with the KS logo.

If it's okay, I want to comment on exactly one dimension of the recent Rascal story about Yazeba's B&B, Possum Creek Games, Jay Dragon (note: a friend), and leaving vital contributors in the lurch:

I hate the warping impact that boom-or-bust product launch crowdfunding has on the TTRPG industry.

For anyone who hasn’t heard, The Poke Court on 13th in NYC was robbed this week at gunpoint during a top loader decorating event. Now NYC officers are going to each LGS in the 5 boroughs (including the one I work at) to warn about more potential armed robberies.

Okay, might as well get this started.

It's January 1, which means, as I'm sure you all know, that there's a whole new bunch of characters who have entered the public domain. This time around, it's characters created in 1930.

The following is a list of pulp & pulpy characters now in the p.d.

Fonts are in the news, so I'm going to take the opportunity to port over an old thread: what was typography like in the Soviet Union?

Spoiler: they did not just have 1 font everyone had to use. As a matter of fact, there were 39.

One of them, you can see here, used to great effect for "Chernobyl."
