One of the big media failures of the past decade is the ongoing search for the deeper side of Trump. There isn't one. His ideology, such as it is, is personalist, transactional, and zero-sum. That's as vain, vulgar, and wrong as you can get. He likes gold shit and applause. There's nothing beneath.
10 years of this shit

Again I will defend polls. And again I will say, you fight. The role of an opposition party is to fight.
i honestly don’t care what the polls say, if you’re still falling for the dems’ whole “we would love to oppose trump/the right and fight culture war stuff but it’s just not popular, we simply must follow the polls this time” song and dance, you’re a mark, sorry.

This is why calling them weird creeps was so effective, not just to damage the leadership psychologically, but to make it extremely socially embarrassing to be a known supporter of them in the general public. The point is to make society at large view them as they are, not the force they wish to be.
New polling data shows that it's getting increasingly embarrassing to identify as a Republican, and some Trump voters are slinking away and pretending it never happened.

I want to emphasize that at this time the unconfirmed reports that President Trump has both arms stuck "elbow deep" in the airplane toilet are just that. We will be monitoring this story. Please be responsible about spreading news that both his arms are "as far as they can go" into the toilet hole.

off the top of my head, moral responsibility for trump, in descending order:

1- trump and his inner circle
2- SCOTUS
3- GOP-affiliated elites
4- biden DOJ
5- intelligentsia/media types who misled the public about the threat he posed and the tools available to stop him
6- elected dems
7- voters
This man is talking about stealing a country at gunpoint from nations the US is allied with. Of course Europeans hate us. You would feel the same way if you were in their place. American voters put this man in power, he didn’t seize it this time.

We have to get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. We have to. It’s unendurable that these men are the most prominent Democrats of the moment. They are two of the most broadly undistinguished men I could imagine in politics, zero fire, zero fight, zero zeal, machine politicians with sinecures.

I am introducing the Melt ICE Act to end funding for immigrant detention and monitoring.

We have seen the danger in infusing resources into DHS’s abuses of power. Funding for ICE is fuel for human suffering.

It’s time to start melting ICE.

The dream of sanitized, popular mass deportations rests on the idea that they can be carried out without mass disruptions. But that is not doable. The Trump-Miller agenda by definition requires prioritizing high removals over all else to achieve ethnic cleansing:

This is probably the most accurate description.

Someone in their mid-50s today told me that this is the first time he had thought about or been affected by politics. And that guy is actively guarding buildings and his coworkers from ICE.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.
