I would just like to put it out there that mass school closures (or teacher actions leading to something similar) keep lots of parents home from work, which could feel like a test drive of a general strike, if you squint just right.
Fridley Public Schools have canceled schools for Friday because of ICE Invasion.
MPS reportedly will have the option for ELearning until February 12th because of ICE Invasion in #Minneapolis

🧵In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7

This is literally what they do whenever a Black person is killed by police. No matter how solid the evidence is, they will keep pushing that lie, not just to poison the conversation and make sure the killer walks free, but to reassert the political idea that these people deserve to be killed.
The shooting is shocking enough but the government's response is off the charts when you consider that this incident is forensically documented on video.

If you asked a conservative Texan, or Tennessean, between the years of 1993-2001 or 2009-2017, what they would do if masked federal police came into their town and killed an unarmed person …

I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.

She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

And also there wasn’t a warrant.
all I’ve got is that the idea that you can commit any act of violence and say you were just executing a warrant is chilling and also common to US police

True Grit (2010) is a) a holiday movie, and b) a banger. It’s very good. Those who have not seen it should, and those who have should see it again.

For about ten years I've thought about what a Tom Waits TV Christmas special produced in the early 80s would have been like. It's almost real to me. The set is a Depression-era shack he built and a stream of celebrity hobos keep knocking on the door and Tom goes "I wOnDEr WHo tHaT cOuLd bE"

I spent the day biking around Madison, mostly indulging myself while also getting in some cardio. I was rewarded by seeing Gov. Tony Evers walking back to work from lunch.

I’m 100% against putting money into the Starvation Army bucket. What I would prefer is a rhinestone-covered bucket jingled by a drag queen for a pro-queer/pro-homeless/pro-errybody organization. This has got to be a thing that we can make happen.
