Bad at describing myself. Doing local politics, native ecology, and sustainable agriculture stuff. Raising a kid with my wife. Mostly reposting the good ideas other people had before me.

Virtually everyone who comments on American politics accepts the implicit premise that that Republican voters are owed deference while Democratic voters exist on sufferance.
“Deplorables” was a scandal for years and she wasn’t even in the government yet. This is the White House Press Secretary, whose salary is paid by the American public.
Leavitt: "The Democrat Party's main constituency is made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals."

anyone else notice that the west took a turn for the worse once the concept of signaling one’s own social virtue became derogatory, almost as if cynically deriding all displays of charity and good will is indicative of a deeply cynical and nihilistic society capable of collaborating in genocide
her advocacy for Palestinians doesn't bother me nearly as much as she is so desperately doing all this as an actual act of transparent virtue signaling, to fill the absence she has in depth of character

Why do I get the feeling he's not talking about the guy on his left here?
Scalise: "When a good day for you is defined by how much suffering you can impose on other people, maybe you need to look in the mirror and check yourself at the door and wonder what it is you're up here trying to accomplish."

I mean yes flag burning is protected speech but I feel like maybe the more important thing is that the man exercising the power of the presidency doesn’t get to by fiat create an offense and a mandatory minimum sentence and seemingly no judicial participation in the process?
Trump calls for ICE and other cops to enforce his executive order banning flag burning, something that’s blatantly unconstitutional given Texas v Johnson (1989), which established flag burning as protected speech.

This is a legitimately great thing I didn't know about! But I wonder if it's not like giving calculators to cats. Yes, they have the tool, but do they have the desire or prerequisite knowledge to use it. (People are the cats)
This is my regular reminder to everyone that jstor is open to the general public now; a free account there will give you access to 100 papers a year.
regrettably if you try to point this out online you'll get yelled out by 79208 journalists going OH SO YOU WANT JOURNALISTS TO STARVE??? even if you're, say, a journalist yourself, and point out that while there are clearly no easy answers, the status quo isn't exactly working for society

Your profile should display "Number of posts/replies written and discarded" and those with the highest number should be shown great respect but also we should be institutionalized.

We must conserve and restore forests because they are wonderful, full of life, support the lives and livelihoods of over a billion people, and play multiple vital roles in the maintenance of a liveable planet

But to slow climate breakdown, we have to bring about the end of the fossil fuel age

as i have now said a million times, the democrats ought to be funding and building an entire alternative media ecosystem. party papers, national and state. party podcasts that communicate basic party propaganda and platform issues, responses to daily issues and crises.

there is simply no excuse.
I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

Any person in uniform wearing a mask and refusing to be properly and reliably identified should be assumed to be the same kind of murderer we’ve seen in Minnesota.
Shooters were dressed like law enforcement and this is exactly why I’m pissed about ice officers wearing masks, driving unmarked cars and not being identifiable when they terrorize communities

Republicans won’t answer for this and the media won’t force them to. But if a single piece of property gets damaged today, Dems will be sure to run to the press to denounce and condemn

Yeah my job is pretty cool. My uniform is a tactical vest that’s two sizes too small and a gaiter I bought in a gas station. They send me to sneak into schools to kidnap little kids because people got mad about having to press 1 for English. The president had to warn everyone to stop spitting on me.

Keep track of any Democrat or commentator or personality who advocates for Musk to be welcomed back into the fold. These are people you cannot trust and should be kept as far away from the levers of power as humanly possible.

consistently lost in navel-gazing about political violence is that, generally speaking, the kinds of people who engage in it individually are generally pretty incoherent and the act is usually more attributable to personal heroic narratives than actual, clear politics attributable to a real ideology

DEI review question: Should you ever slap a coworker's ass and yell "YEEHAW!"?
A) No
B) 3
C) Leonard Cohen
D) No

Guys: Attica! Attica! Attica!
why are these guys all so mad about HR trainings. how is that supposed to be a roadblock for young men. my company's yearly DEI training is an hour they pay me to not work followed by a test with questions you can pass without reading the actual questions.
I have never seen any example of the left "hating" young men that doesn't distill to "refusal to coddle them/insistence on treating them like adults with agency."

I'm no longer doing business with the grocery store. My wife and son are very happy with all the money we're saving. It's very simple.

Every evening, without fail, Pope Francis speaks with priests and parishioners at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza City. He tells them that they are not forgotten and that, as long as he has a voice to cry out for an end to the Israeli assault on Gaza, there is hope for peace and justice.
A Pope Who Prays for Palestine
Pope Francis, who is in daily contact with Gazans, has consistently called for an end to the Israeli assault and for Palestinians and Israelis to be able to live in peace.
