Easily one of the most important journalistic endeavors to start in the last few years.
From the surveillance dystopia to tech overlords, here's a 🧵 of stories where we saw our reporting lead to change, thanks to your support.

First: A databroker that sold hundreds of millions of your flight records to the government shut down following months-long 404 Media reporting:
Airlines Will Shut Down Program That Sold Your Flights Records to Government
The move comes after intense pressure from lawmakers and 404 Media’s months-long reporting about the airline industry's data selling practices.

“If a woman dares to show herself in public in any way, then she can and will be sexually harassed with the aid of genAI-driven tools that can easily turn her face into highly realistic pornography” is an absolute red-alarm human rights disaster
The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

Porn and erotica are important and societally valuable forms of speech, and the defense of them, in the face of state and church attempts at repression, is a necessary political act.

its incredible to read how the regime has to do a hard sell on the oil companies for this. president grandpas 1989 brain does it again. oil is 50 dollars a barrel and the infrastructure is degraded and the situation completely confused and politically volatile. oil ceos not exactly excited. amazing
whatever the real reason for this was by the smart guys, the stated reason for the addled moron in charge is oil. and that's darkly funny considering we don't need it

Charlie Kirk was a husband and a father. We heard it over and over again

Only certain types of people get to be husbands and fathers. Some people are simply civilians. Faceless, nameless and without consequence. Civilians die. It's what they do
The New York Times has just confirmed that 40 civilians died in President Trump's invasion.

This is the aftermath in one area

it is fucking annoying when another country outside the US gets fucked over by the American government via imperialism and white American liberals are like "please take care of your mental health fellow Americans let's talk about our comfort cartoons"

like genuinely the most selfish people EVER.

Well, now as of almost 4pm, we are back to a sense of "normalcy". People are on the streets in tense calmness buying food and supplies just in case something bad happens, and now it's a waiting game to see what comes next, either another attack or the surrender of the entire regime (doubtful).

“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.

It’s almost like green energy is the only way forward and a handful of oil barons are doing everything in their power to keep that from happening so they can get even richer at the cost of literally everything else in the world.
Wall Street’s biggest banks made more money financing green projects than they did from working with fossil fuel companies for a fourth straight year, even as they faced ongoing pressure to pull back from the business
